Mo Williams not wearing a headband?

If Corbin wants to make the Jazz "his team", he should start by lifting the no headband rule.

Jerry is gone, no reason to cling to his archaic policies.

.

If he wants to make it his team he should start with some things a little more substantitive like not placating veterans when they whine to the media, while dealing with other unhappy players by pretending they're not there, not having zeros who haven't won anything like Sidney Lowe and Michael Sanders on his coaching staff and not getting out-coached (badly) 80% of the time.

and not getting out-coached (badly) 80% of the time.

How did he defy all predictions and make it to the playoffs(in a lockout shortened season with not much of a training camp) if he got "outcoached badly 80% of the time"?.Agree with some of the other complaints but give the rookie coach a break. He was after all one of the candidates for COY last year
and so lets see if he is improved this season. The guy doesnt have Sloan's security and authority to put his foot down and keep disgruntled players in their doghouses. That said, he did show some guts in keeping Bell chained to the bench.

A conservative about the headband rule: "This is the liberal coaching staff trying to control our lives" or "They are talking my right to bear accessories" or if all else fails "Socialism!"

A liberal about the headband rule: "This is just the conservative coaching staff trying to tell us what stays in the closet", or "They are trying to deny a black man his basic rights" or if all else fails "It's Bush's fault!"

Folks remember to say NO to the headband rule this November! This is unconstitutional. Let's hurt them where it counts by not buying tickets. Vote them all out of their jobs.

I'm not a big Corbin fan. I've made it known by my constant Van Gundy and Thibodeau ramblings. That said, I don't think he's a terrible coach.

I wouldn't say the former placated vets when they whined to the media. What do you mean exactly here? Because I'd say the exact opposite. As soon as the Bell situation arose, he was DNP'ed the rest of the year. As soon as Watson made some sort of backhanded remark (I forget what it was off the top of my head), he never regained his backup role from Tinsley. And in both cases, it never really escalated beyond the initial remarks. Sure, Bell added in more after the season was over and Miles added in his whiny **** but those of these guys appear gone so it really doesn't matter.

I also wouldn't say he was outcoached badly 80% of the time. I think he showed some improvement as the year went along. Case in point, starting the three bigs in game four vs. the Spurs. Sloan never would have done that. So let's hope we see some more educated "risks" like that. Granted, his learning curve and adjustments oftentimes seem like too little (or nothing at all sometimes), too late, but I do see decisions made that again, I feel Jerry never would have made. Playing Burks the amount he did this year might be one of those. My instncts tell me Jerry would've just stuck with good ol' Miles and Bell.

This year is a big year. A huge year. If no trades are made, we should see solid improvement in the team. We have Mo now. We should see a big leap in Kanter. Burks could also be much better. Jefferson's joined those two at P3 and he's in a contract year so if we don't see solid improvement from him (I'm not holding my breath), then it becomes even more painfully obvious, even to his supporters, that he needs to go. Hayward should become more consistent, especially from deep. Carroll will hopefully add a little more stability and energy at the 3 that we missed during most of the year. And then there's Favors. I guess my point is, if we don't jump from about 45 win pace (which is what we were last year) to around 49 or 50 wins, I'll be disappointed. He, and those crappy assistants (which I do agree with you on; this and turning a blind eye to unhappy campers) need to develop the young guys. Period. Now. Period.

Well, should we get better compare to us last season? yes

Should we win more games compare to last season's wins? not necessarily, because the other guys on other teams try do get better too. I mean, it's not just about us.

Of course the Jazz should win more games since they'll have 82 of them compared to 66. Percentage wise they should get a little better at least.

In commenting on the original topic of this thread, coach Corbin really should get rid of the no-headband rule. I honestly don't see the point of it.

When Watson complained to the media after losing his primary back up role due to injury, the very next game Corbin let him finish the game - which he never did before. And Utah lost at home in OT (I can't remember against who). All this While Harris was playing his best ball of the year and Tinsley was outplaying Watson as well.

As far as the Raja Bell incident is concerned, I'm not quite sure who was right and who was wrong - it doesn't really matter. The bottom line is The Jazz played out the last 20 games of the seasons and the playoffs less one roster spot. In my view this failing falls squarely on the shoulders of managment - Corbin and KOC. Yes, it may not of made a difference in the end. But that's not the point. It looks bush league and dysfunctional.

I agree this is a big year for Corbin. But I guess my frustration lies in the fact that we're stuck with this guy in that other a complete meltdown this guy is here to stay.
