Move On From Hayward?

I don't see why that is out of the realm of possibility. Last time I checked all 3 players are far from their ceiling.

But be a pessimist if you must.
**** man I never knew you were so high on the jazz. Where were you during the discussion with gvc, Franklin, shad and others when they were bashing the jazz like crazy and I was defending them?

Probably somewhere not talking to Franklin or GVC because unlike you, I can ignore posters.

If we contend, it will be because of Lyles or Hood over Favors. That guy does not compliment Gobert at all. Lyles is the future of the NBA and Jazz. He could be our star.

Well, I'll at least agree that the Jazz will be lucky to get out of the first round in the west, let alone compete for a championship, if we have three max players and only one of them can shoot. I'll also agree that line-up data suggests the Jazz are as good or better offensively with rookie Lyles playing with Gobert and Hayward instead of Favors. By the middle of next year, Lyles may very well be finishing games instead of Favors. Quin Snyder likes spacing, passing and shooting. My point here is that there's no need to rush. Things may look quite different a year from now.

If we contend it'll be because of Exum blossoming into a stud and having a team of versatile two way players. Getting rid of Hayward will do nothing to help that.

Let's play small ball.

Trade #12 for Rudy Gay.
Exum blossoms.

This is nice size and good shooting.
Exum
Hood
Gay
Hayward/Lyles
Favors/Gobert

Living near Boston and being a Celtics fan too (they're my number 2 team), I have thought of this exact trade a number of times. Someone even called into a sports talk radio show out here and proposed it. And for all of the same reasons (from the Cs perspective) as the OP.

I like the trade for both teams, but I would also be fine with keeping Hayward in Utah. Assuming he does bolt in FA, I do believe he will go to Boston, especially given Danny Ainge's prior interest in him and the fact that both Ainge and Stevens just re-upped their deals with the organization . Given that, Hayward for #3 would be a good get for Utah.

Don't know that maxing Barnes is the way to go, but we do certainly have to account for Burks being so fragile. But yeah, Hayward for #3 might be the way to go.

You'd be a straight fool to ignore the sharpest and best poster this site has consistently had.
The dude who thinks the jazz suck, have no talent or assets, no future, horrible management, and will never be any good?

Ya that's some good posting on a site made for fans of the utah jazz.

This trade only makes sense if we send out Fave and Burks and contend for top 3 pick next year. We could have a real nice Tank Commander in Burke, too.

With Burks and Exum healthy along with Lyles, Gobert, and Hood development and an off-season for Mack to get acquainted, I don't think we take a step back at all before we even consider what we get with the #3 pick. We are a playoff team without Hayward. Still not a contender, but a playoff team.

Both of their takes on the team as a whole have been piss poor lately. I'm betting the chicken littles of the board will be back-pedaling this year. Utah was looking pretty damn good before Exum got injured, and missing Gobert and Favors for big stretches didn't help. When this team is healthy, they are a hell of a lot better than either of those guys will admit,

We also can go into luxury tax threshold to keep our players in the future if this team becomes good. The current ownership has already shown they are willing to do this if needed. They did it in the Dwill Booze era.

Millers paid tax under OLD CBA (dollar for dollar). It is now 3.25:1 if over $15M (4.25 for repeaters). There is no way Jazz have the revenue to absorb this. Even Mark Cuban is going to work like hell to stay under the luxury limit.

The best poster who almost never posts and when he does it's apparent he either has his period or is going through menopause? That one?

I like our core, but hard to imagine a large improvement from Hayward and Favors. I think they are pretty near their peak. Incremental improvements are more likely.

We are going to create a new model to see how far a team with 3 top 30 players can go.
