Players want to be paid.

The spurs are weird. Their guys don't seem to care about their own salaries.

That's also why the Spurs chase euro players. There is much less "me first, screw everyone else" mentality when it comes down to team and money.
Won't happen with haywards and boozers around.

duncan did make max money for awhile. but he took a pay cut. but obviously he is no longer a max guy.

current salary

duncan - $10 mil
parker - $12 mil
manu - $7.5 mil
splitter - $10 mil

manu should make more, but he is still a 6th man. splitter is getting over paid.

and remember no state tax. so parker making $12 million is like making $18 mil in NY. they are making enough money and there is no reason to play for other teams because they think of playing for spurs as a true blessing. i remember parker and manu saying that in interview.

....I remember a Malone interview, which I'd love to find again, in which he was asked why he doesn't move to another team as a free agent? He said something to the effect "if I move to another team, I have to play with a different point guard, a guy who is more than likely to swallow the ball or throw it into the stands! I'm staying the John Stockton....I know what he's going to do with the ball!"

No. Hoppers get benched in Europe. You don't pass when you should and go even dunk from the 3 point line, you sit your *** down. A good coach should remind his players what comes first.
