^Good post. A couple of the more damning emails were from a couple athletes that were requesting, you know, an actual education... they requested, in writing, to change the fake classes to something complimentary to their major. In both instances, they were basically met with chuckles and told how they should appreciate the extra time to work on their game or get some rest.

sorry PKM, I was trying to be a smartass. . . . well, maybe still am. . . . I see this sort of thing as now an established feature of most if not all of our societal institutions. . . . capricious misuse of authority with a devil-may-care cavalier disregard for accountability to the lowly public. If you've got the power, use it as you please.

However, out of respect for the showing in here of at least every poster but me who is still capable of outrage, I am reconsidering the situation. . . . . maybe we can make a difference by showing our outrage at unfair dealings. . . . maybe we can even just start a new nonprofessional association of athletic institutions on the promise of actually even-handed dealings. . . .

don't ever give up trying to make a difference for the better.

That's all taken the right way, babe. I am. I am helping to fund a new/better way. Bright minds can create a better system, more representative of the schools and the student-athlete. I have not even come close to giving up.

Dal, after your stressful 18 years as an orthopedic surgeon when you move onto the cushy field of academics where you are only required to teach 6 hours a week in a medical school, would you make a fake class and give fake grades for those kind of benefits? Just wondering.

The pay would suck.
