I've bifurcated my Netflix usage in that I use the streaming service for television shows and the disc service for movies. This has historically worked out well for me because the selection on television offerings is quite a bit better than the selection for films. This is especially true if, like me, you determine that any netflix streaming film from the "Starz Play" library is essentially unwatchable due to quality issues.
The 60% claim is a bit exaggerated. I guess it's possible that one could end up with a 60% rate if they were on a specific plan (maybe one-out unlimited plus streaming?). I know on my three disc out plan with Blu-Ray the increase is up about 20%. In any event, from virtually any perspective the cost per hour of entertainment even for moderate users is quite modest.
I use one out at a time plus streaming, so 60% is no exaggeration for me. I only use the DVD to fill in the gaps of what's missing from the streaming library.
I do agree about the cost per hour value. Especially since they've been actively improving the quality of the streaming content. Hopefully this rate increase will come with an expanded library as many analysts are predicting.
