What's new

Netflix recs?

28 years later was quite good. The ending was weird though and I didn't like it
This just showed up on netflix and I really liked it. I was impressed with how they made it look similar to 28 days later while also feeling like something new. Like all the action is great and the gore is really fun. Danny Boyle still got it, Garland's writing is strong. The ending is very goofy and I can understand not liking it. But overall very solid, look forward to the next one.

I started watching Wednesday yesterday. Better than I expected.
I really liked a lot of Season 1, but the
supernatural love triangle
annoyed me. Like, I get why they thought they had to have it, but they really didn't.

Dexter: Resurrection is FANTASTIC.

They’ve really hit it out of the park with this one after the disasterous Dexter: New Blood.

A true return to form here.

Check it out.

Not on Netflix, but 100% recommend watching the Chair Company if you can. It's scratching a weird itch I never knew I had. It's weird, funny, great acting, so different, bizarre, refreshing and entertaining. It's probably one of those where if it hits for you it hits hard or you don't get it and it's not for you type of shows, but damn I love it's quirkiness.

Also, Landman season 2 opener had me laughing. Billy Bob is so good. His daughter's scene getting into TCU is so simple writing a 14 year old could have done it, but it was genius and a lil brave to do in 2025.

I'm a huge Dexter fan, but it was meh at best for me. The writing was bad, predictable and cringe.

They took out the music aspect out of the show and tried to make it fresh and quirky.

It lost the darkness vibe to it too.

Writers be like "what if there was a meet up for serial killers and Dexter doesn't get invited, but stumbles into getting invited. Then he can kill serial killers the whole season.

Oh, and let's write Dexter didn't die, no real resolve with his kid, Bautista is a moron, the detective lady has to listen to BeeGees.

The one good new Character was Dexter's Uber friend. He's a good actor and his voice is so easy to listen to and believable.

The writing on the last episode was just so bad.

Yeah but compared to New Blood, Resurrection is leaps and bounds better.

I think they’ve really righted a wrong here.

I know it won’t please all the diehards but I get what they’re trying to do here. They’re trying to bring Dexter to a brave new world (and at times dragging him kicking and screaming) but I really like it. I can always go back and watch the old seasons but I’m excited to see what they have in store going forward.

Also watching Hall’s Resurrection interviews gives me the sense he’s excited too and that can only be a good thing for a guy who’s played the same character for more than a decade.
