The main reason I haven’t been to a doctor, other than for serious injury/illness, for like 15 years.

My wife and I finally picked up a health insurance policy on ourselves. I’m finally going to go to a doctor and get all my chronic aches and pains looked at/fixed. I’ve been dealing with constant pain in my ankle/Achilles for three years.

Is emergency service free, if you do not have 24h/365 health insurance? At least in EU if you have a job and pay both social and so called profit tax. For example, if assuming you worked 160 hours per month (i.e sold your skills to the customer), customer paid to the company 5000 EUR, then the theoretical maximum that you receive to your bank account as a salary is about 2500 EUR. About 1000 EUR is so called profit tax, which mostly goes to local city-state where you live, and 1500 EUR is social tax, which goes to the government and includes also health insurance except dentist, plastic surgery etc. Of course, owners also want something, office has some expenses so the salary that you receive after taxes is probably around 1500-2000 EUR.

No. Here, if you go to a doctor, it costs a fortune. A trip to an emergency room will cost a minimum of a couple hundred dollars just to be evaluated. To have a baby and stay in the hospital two days runs $5000 minimum.

I know the calculation of taxes in USA is more difficult than in Europe - but how much can you actually spend if you are the owner and you are the only person in your company? For simplicity, lets assume that the invoice to the end customer includes only your working hours, not any parts that you have purchased from the distributor or wholesale company? For example, if the invoice is 5000 USD, how much can you actually spend after all the must-be state and federal taxes?

I guess that even if you are homeless, then birth of a baby is free in Estonia (the process from calling the emergency until the doctors say that you and baby are in good condition to leave the hospital).

Are both Obamacare and Medicare basically the same that we have in Europe - i.e you pay more taxes and in theory receive somewhat universal and good healthcare?
I think so far i am in the plus side; i have not had any problems, but instead on 9 months the daughter of my brother came out when she was about 5,5 months. Weighed about 800 grams, looked like a small Barbie doll. Had received over ten surgeries. Now she is 6,5 years old, and basically 99% OK. I do not want to know the list price of all those services she received.

It’s all based on income, broken down into brackets. It also varies state to state. For example, I live in Utah and I pay myself $2250 twice a month as a salary. My take home is just about $1900.
Based on how many people live in my house that I am financially responsible for, that qualifies us for government assistance for our insurance. My kids get great coverage and we pay very little for them. My wife and I just chose to get insurance this year for the first time in a while (we both have some issues we want to get resolved). The plan we chose would normally cost over $1100/month. Every time we go to doctor we still have to pay $10. We have to pay every cent of every test, x Ray, prescription (that is not part of a “basic evaluation”) until we spend something like $500 each. Then the insurance pays 80% of the costs until we reach our “out of pocket maximum” of $4500 each. Then the insurance will pay 100% after that. Our insurance plan does not cover vision or dental, so 100% of those costs come out of our pocket.

So am i correct that if you pay to yourself 2250 twice a month, then the minimum money that you receive to your personal business entity from the customer should be at least $4500 per month? Assuming you have no expenses related to your office, tools etc which can be put as company expenses?

Does the kids coverage depend on the salary of the parent?
