What's new

NFL Offseason

I'm digging the Colts draft. Aside from Luck, they got the two best TEs in the draft. Since Arenas seems to run a multiple TE system and that's the system Luck ran in college it seems perfect. They got maybe the best return guy in the draft in Hilton who can also be a good slot receiver (though that's what Collie does so I'm interested in how they can both line up), and if Chapman is healthy he's a steal for a DT in the fifth round. Though it's clear the Colts were all about giving Luck weapons.

I just need to go on record as being firmly in the RG3 is going to be much better than Andrew Luck Camp. In fact, I'll take it one step further. Kellen-Undrafted-Moore will have a better NFL career than Andrew Luck.

And yet again, I have no reason to be excited to be a Raiders fan. The best news of the week for us is that Matt Leinhart is interested in us, and that's not even good news.

Congrats to Utah State though for getting some players drafted. That should make for some nice leverage on the recruiting trail.

RG3's career, especially his first 3-5 years is going to be shaky. The Redskins are entrenched in a division with three other teams that consistently have talent, draft better than average, win 8+ games, and have very good qb's. In fact, it's reasonable to think all three of these teams could have 10+ wins this year. The Eagles and Cowboys were both 8-8 last year and both led the NFL in blowing 4th quarter leads, with five apiece. Each had very good drafts and look to be better, maybe much better this season. The Redskins on the other hand have proven over the last decade that they suck at drafting, developing from within, and that they have no idea what they're doing. RG3 is going to have mediocre weapons around him, a shaky offensive line, and have little picks next year to help that matter. They'll win some games here or there because of his legs but overall, they'll be about a 6-10 team most years.

Saw this morning that Miami added FB Shawn Asiata and DE Derrick Shelby as rookie free agents. Love the Asiata pick up. Miami is moving more towards a WC offense and will be using a fullback. With no current FB firmly entrenched, I like Asiata's chances of making the team. Miami is thin at DE too, so maybe Shelby has a shot but not likely. Somebody in Miami's scouting department must have graduated from Utah. Miami now has Sean Smith, Paul Solia, Koa Misi, Derrick Shelby, and Shawn Asiata on their roster.

Pshaw. Luck will be in the HOF when all is said and done. He has every physical tool and the brains to match, as well as not having the Ryan Leaf-esque knucklehead factor.

I doubt Luck will do nearly as good as Cam Newton.

The highest yards ever for a rookie quarterback breaking Peyton Manning's records.

The most rushing touchdowns for any quarterback ever (not just rookie).

Why he has a better team around him than cam did last season definitely wont run as far but he is way more accurate with the pass

I'm a Phins fan but Colts have better weapons then the Panthers? IMO Steve Smith and the two RB's DeAngelo Williams & Johnathon Stewart are better than any offensive weapons Luck will have going into next year.

You are setting yourself up for disappointment. That QB you just set up for the HOF has a season behind him which means every DC has a season of tape on him.

I guarantee Newton's production will decrease in his 2nd year.

Wow, what can I say about my Browns.

-We drafted a dude named Smelley. As it turns out, he's a pretty good H-back. Great hands. I don't know what we will do with him. He's not a lead blocker and he's not really a TE either. So, H-Back right?

-Signed two Vandals, one a year off reject LB JoJo Dickson, who has great measurables, and T Matt Cleveland. Dickson is very gifted athletically. Matt will sell a ton of jerseys if he makes the team for even a day.

-Weeden has a great ability to throw the rock. This dude has an arm/touch ratio that is better than 90% of the NFL. He could still fail for a great number of reasons but Weeds ability to throw the ball is really, really impressive. I was dismissive of this pick but then watched a bunch of youtube games.

-Richardson is so F'n good. This is a guy that is so easy to root for. Seriously, just google him and you will find something that makes you like him. On top of this the guy is really good at everything. He blocks and catches. This player will change the AFCN. He's that good.

-Schwartz at RT is a key draftee. Our guards were both basically rooks last year. One of them looked to be able to become a serious NFL player, that's Pinkston. The other, Lauvau, is nasty but has limitations. Cleveland drafted another late round G too. If our new RT is the real deal a whole lot will be unlocked. Last year Alex Smith had to play TE a lot to cover up the hole at RT. He's just not very good. The Browns have a couple TEs in Cameron and Moore that almost nobody saw last year. TE could easily transform to a position of strength.

-AFCN in turmoil. The Ravens are not going away. But the Steelers might. They have done nothing to alleviate the loss of Ward and Mendenhall. They did draft G and LT but their LT rook is a huge risk. Ben's most reliable target retired in Ward. He also has a new OC and Ben has never been smart. As long as DLB lives their D will be good. But they are in transition and are heavily dependent on Troy P.

It is certainly possible the Steelers win again but I don't think that will happen. That team will lose exactly to the degree the Browns improve their season.

Browns 10-6 Steelers 6-10 You heard it here first.

I wish you good luck but a few things to point out here. One is that Weeden looked so great on youtube because he played in that Air Raid offense crap. Everyone excels in that. Maybe he's the real deal. But I doubt it. Secondly, the Steelers aren't going anywhere. Their o-line should be vastly improved year over year. That has been a major issue the last two seasons and they've really addressed that. The loss of Ward means little. I don't think he started for them anyway. If he did, he did not get as many snaps on passing plays as Brown. They still have Wallace, Brown and Sanders. That's a very good threesome. And loss of Mendenhall? I'm not sure what you mean. Regardless, they don't really like him much anyway and I see a successor being drafted for him next year or the year after. In short brother, you're high if you think a well-run, well-coached, talented team like the Steelers are going to fall four games behind a consistently ****ty team like the Browns who will field a rookie qb who's used to facing craphouse defenses week in and week out. Well, minus Texas.

In fact, I'll bet you right now that the Steelers end up with a better record than the Browns. If they tie, or the Browns are better, you win. If Pitt ends up with a better record, I win.

Awaiting the typical "Ah, I don't bet my team" comment.
