What's new

NFL Talk

Wait till everybody stacks the box now that there is no threat of Cutler casually flicking the ball 40 yards. Bye-Bye running game. Hello tired D.

That's why you'll see a lot more check downs and screen passes. The Bears might actually use their TE's now. It's still Martz's offense. There's a ton of ways to get Forte going.

When you have 9 guys in the box those check downs and screens get blown the F up. It's the downfield threat that opens up the field for Forte. Or was.

I don't know the new kid at all but am very skeptical he's anywhere even close to as good a passer as Cutler. Martz has to have a QB in order for his O to work, the same as any other OC. Alex Smith ran this offense straight into the toilet in 2008.

Not trying to hate on the Bears, just can't accept the idea that a team can lose a guy like Cutler and just keep on truckin'.

How many QB's is that this season?
The team that wins the SuperBowl very well could be the team that has the last man standing.

It's pretty simple: If they don't sign Orton (or trade for someone) they are definitely out of the playoff picture. So you weigh the difference in money between getting to the playoffs or not, plus the revenue that will certainly go down with the prospect of the playoffs basically gone.

It makes too much sense. The Bears have a chance to grab a starting QB without really upheaving their current situation. In fact, it's saving it. If they don't do it, they're stupid. Even if their backup looks great and they make the playoffs magically that doesn't change the situation they're in now. Just because you win going all in on an ace high, it doesn't mean it was a smart bet.
