With the 9th pick we need to draft someone to be a starter. Not someone to get 20 minutes a night as a backup at the 4 and 5 imo.
It's true. If the Jazz want to draft someone who can come in and break into the starting line up soon, they'd draft a shooting guard like George or Henry. Then they could pick up a back-up PF/C with more length than Millsap later in the draft or through free agency. As Krazee pointed out, there are some big inside players like Poindexter late in this draft. If the Jazz can't get skilled length like Monroe, Cousins or (I maintain) Whiteside, they can get defensive size later in the draft.
The Jazz do have Okur, Fess and Tomic lined up for the C spot, which makes me wonder if drafting Aldrich would make much of a difference in the long run.
At the end of the day, I think the Jazz are going to be opportunistic with this lottery pick, try to move up in the draft if they can, and get the best player available--either a big or a wing. If the Jazz were able to get a player like Cousins, I think they'd let Okur expire at the end of the year and justify the pick as their starting-caliber center of the future. If they got Aminu or Babbit, they would think about moving AK or not re-signing him. If they draft George or Henry, we'd have a real shooting guard for the first time in about 10 years.
