Eh, I think Hardy has a tough job. The absolute zero effort on defense that we’ve seen shouldn’t ever be acceptable- he’s also responsible for developing good habits in these young players and basic accountability will need to be part of the teams culture if we ever want to be a championship team.

Getting the W is meaningless and more harm than good for the franchise. Player development should be the priority at this stage. Can you really blame Hardy for caring about a W more than development? Not really, but it shows we do not have the right priorities as a franchise. I don’t care about him identifying the problems to give us the best chance to win tomorrow. I care about developing our young players and at it’s hard for me to believe that’s the why he’s coaching the way he is. Nobody is making this argument to play the young guys so we can win more games.

When Svi started the season I said we are an unserious franchise, and it’s not because Svi doesn’t help this current team win more games. We are unserious because we’re trying to win 30 games instead of 25 at the expense of player development. You can even take the whole tanking thing out of the picture. If we assume we had no pick at all, I’d still find this to be dumb for the franchise.

What a bizarre game, but a W is a W.

- To start, I'd like us to have a moment of silence for Keyonte. My man kept dying on those same high screens again and again like he was Tom Cruise in "Edge of Tomorrow". It was a massacre. He didn't do any better guarding Brown 1-on-1, but his scoring kept us in the game. We got the full Keyonte experience! (He was also -11, which takes some doing when you score 31 points on 9/16 shooting.)

- Signs of life from Walt. He's still a total non-entity defensively, but had cut down on the dumbass freelancing considerably. His ability to stay calm on offense really helped the Jazz in some hectic situations.

- Boston had a game plan for Lauri and it was like "Yeah, we'll take our chances with Keyonte, Flip and Nurk trying to score". Markkanen was immediately quadruple-teamed when he got the ball inside the perimeter. The swarming worked, for the most part, because we couldn't hit our 3pt shots and Lauri kept bouncing the ball off various body parts of his.

- Flip has some heart.

- Harkless is a pretty terrible NBA player. His hustle can be useful in certain chaotic defensive situations where you have to chase the ball like crazy, but this man should never shoot or try to dribble the ball. He was trying his hardest to give the game away when he got too excited. Dude was also violently bullied by Brown 1-on-1.

- Overall, it was a gutsy effort by the Jazz, considering we were facing such awesome physical specimens as Luka Garza, Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser and Derrick White.

Honestly, if we end this year with no pick and no playoffs, it might be the worst Jazz year in history. The last 3 years have been horrible and adding this year to that with that outcome would just show the fan base that they have no direction and no idea what they're doing.

Tough crowd, we lose it’s the end of the world, we win it’s even worse. I mean it’s basketball, Hornets on fire last night and we couldn’t throw a rock in the ocean. This one was so much more gratifying as we struggled early and overcame adversity with more energy and tenacity than yesterday. The draft, front office will take care of that one way or another - I mean you know that with our luck that Dybantsa or Peterson or even Boozer is out of reach anyway.

Clayton got 8 of his minutes in the 4th Q and played the last 2 minutes.

Sure, Hardy could've played Svi 10-15 minutes less than he did. That's small potatoes and certainly not this "he only plays the vets and doesn't care about youth development!!!".

Sensabaugh played 1400+ NBA minutes last season. I'm sure whatever difference to his development makes whether he plays 1000, 1500 or 2000 minutes this season, it won't matter one bit to the Jazz's future. And Cody's minutes matter even less when he's probably out of the league in 2027.

The Celtics missed 40 threes last night, I don't think we need to worry about our pick when we beat a 35 win team by one possession as long as they go 11/51 from three, lol.

In terms of minutes, IDK, Brice and Cody just aren't going to be relevant NBA players almost certainly and we have a huge logjam at PF that makes minutes for Filipowski, Hendricks, and Ace very hard. I hate Hardy as a coach for his inability to coach defense, but this is more of a stupid roster issue.

People see what they want to see. It's already an established narrative that Hardy doesn't want to tank "the right way" and is holding back the youngins from doing maximum damage. It's hard to change that perception when the vets are taking most of the shots. The minutes don't even matter that much.

Yeah and people also quickly dismissed Austin Ainge's mic drop moment by saying "he is lying"... but they dont really realize that if a politician has a choice between "saving face and making the right decision", they always tend to choose "save face".

Which is why reinforcing bad habits and play in general is a terrible idea. Unless the goal is to tank forever.
