I don't disagree, but i feel like he's making strides - perhaps toddler strides - in this area as the season progresses. we're seeing him attack closeouts and just put the ball on the floor and create more and more. again, it's not a lot, but it's happening.

He just has no idea how to draw contact on his drives. I think a lot of it is just a strength issue.

Nurk's "interior defense" is pretty much all the tank commanding we need. I mean anywhere else he would be suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.

The fact that we haven't even tried to pick up some rim protector off the scrap heap after Kessler went down is all I need to know about what the FO wants to do this season.

IMO, Nurk is the perfect tank commander for us. He is atrocious on defense, but he helps us maintain the same offensive structure we had with Kessler. Especially now, with a shortage of on-ball creators, it’s crucial at times to have a center who can act as an offensive hub.

except, i will say, you mentioned that yesterday, and said something along the lines of "once he drives and draws a foul, then..." i have no idea where the post was, maybe you remember saying that, but he went out and did exactly that last night against GSW. so again, while he's not good at it, he literally did it just last night - toddler strides.

It’s just not Ace’s instinct to draw contact. He’s been playing his whole life one way, and that’s to use his talent to evade the defense. I don’t know if you can rewire his brain, this a a very rare development for prospects. It’s why I stressed FTr so much during the draft cycle.

Having said that, he’s already shown he can be completely different than he was in college, so maybe there’s hope.

Ace and Lauri need to defensive rebound better. Maybe it’s just Hardy instructing our guys to leak out, but it’s criminal for our defensive rebounding to be this bad with this size and personnel.
