Rookies that get a high volume of shots are almost never efficient scorers their rookie seasons. The list of stars throughout NBA history is littered with such players.

Would it shock you if I told you that rookie Keyonte George had a virtually identical scoring efficiency as rookie Devin Booker? And was actually more efficient than rookie Kevin Durant?
I hope you’re right. By comparison Jordan clarkson has never shot lower than 40 percent for a season. I guess I am worried they Keyonte never gets anything easy.

It’s Sexton that moves to the second unit, not George. Both Collier and George are combo guards. I expect Collier to run the show for the most part at the one. 10 - 20 games sounds about right.

I think Sexton will start at the 1 for as long as he's on the team. If Collier has to beat out Sexton, that's going to take a while. If Sexton gets traded, that opens the door for Collier to start and share on-ball reps with Keyonte. This assumes that Clarkson will also be traded, resulting in our starting backcourt being Collier and Keyonte.

Collier needs to prove a few things: a) that he can defend his position and preferably up a position, b) that he can shoot efficiently, and c) that he has an impact when he's off the ball.

If the Jazz are able to draft either Dylan Harper or Nolan Traore next summer, then that guy would be expected to become the starter by half way through their rookie season. Collier would be a backup or would be moved, imo.

Collier plays the better D and is a better passer and perimeter D and turnovers have been a huge issue for us.

There are a whole lot of somewhat likely and somewhat unlikely things that would have to happen for Collier to be a starter. Overall seems unlikely, but possible.

I'm placing the seemingly risky bet of 0-10 games. He's going to beast in summer league. Part of my opinion is based on Key acting like a primadonna during summer league and preseason.

See if that's actually the case. Collier hasn't played yet. Sexton as a starter has been a pretty consistent 20 pts / 5 ast guy. He made some real strides last year. It's not going to be easy for Collier to jump ahead of him in the rotation. If Sexton gets moved at the deadline and the Jazz do their late-season tank, then that's the quickest path to Collier starting, imo.

If it's going to happen early season Collier needs to have an incredible summer league.

I went with 20-30. The dude is legit and it's clear he takes major pride in being a facilitator. I don't think his scoring is going to be crazy his rookie season but his +- will be better than the other guards and that will secure his spot.

All three of our 2024 picks strike me as guys who want to win more than they want personal accolades.
