Will Walker Shoot More Than 20 3's This Season?

I think he gets more than 20 in the season. I think they need to just give him a standard scenario and let it play out. Something like, hey if you get the ball at the top of the key and options 1-3 are stymied, then shooting it is option 4. So they stop one hand-off, they front the next guy and the third guy gets bothered, then Kessler just takes the shot. If he even hits a few it will at least stop them from just sagging back and clogging the paint when he has the ball.

I'm hoping this is the case because even with Rudy it was ****ing frustrating seeing him stand at the top of the key looking for someone to pass to while his guy is 15 feet away from him and finally hand the ball off to Mitchell or whatever for a last-second fading heave from 30 feet when they could have just had Rudy take the ****ing shot with at least the same chance of making it as that last second ******** they got by absolutely forbidding him from ever shooting. It was just so stupid. So hopefully they learn and open Kessler up to say, hey look for option 1 and 2 and if they are taken away and you're open, just let it fly. I doubt it will ever become a real weapon but the option is better than just standing there waiting for something to develop from nothing.

Yeah... but then again, that's exactly the outcome the other team is hoping for. I mean, other than a shot clock violation, that's literally what they want. Not ideal.

This is the problem with having a total non-shooter in your starting lineup these days. When you have to build your offense partly around the huge hole in one guy's skill set, you're immediately handicapping yourself and making it more difficult for the other players. That's why guys like Kessler rarely play starter minutes.

Last season, Walker's defensive impact was pretty huge because he changed and blocked so many shots near the rim. That lessened the net impact of his non-shooting. Remains to be seen if teams have learned to adapt to his presence. The more he is game planned for, the more he has to learn to shoot.

Dude there are tons of bad or non shooters starting in the NBA. Including half the starting centers, one perennial MVP candidate, a lot of 4s including some good ones (Mobley comes to mind) and even some backcourt players.

You are a massive drama queen.
