He's added a lot of new facets to his game...like shooting, dribbling, steals, etc. That's what I meant. He's worked plenty hard to get to where he's at.
I guess what I should have said was: He's outperformed what was expected of him.

Sincerely .. that's what I figured. I'm just not real clued in on NBA contracts .. not sure if they have some kind of job description/quota. Please excuse my ignorance.

Seriously, once you get past the hatred welcomes, this Jazzfanz site is super polite for a forum. I feel like I need to wear a top hat when I'm typing on here.

On another note, I'm not sure what goes on in NBA contracts either. KOC did mention in an interview that he explained the Howard and Tinsley's roles to them as a veteran when he signed them and that role was to experience the youngsters. Not sure if that's a formal or informal agreement. Probably the latter.
 
Also note the new CBA so it will be hard to compare all contracts as I suspect the non max players will have to get paid a little less to make an evened out roster. It will make KOC's job tougher on who to keep and at what price do you have to let player(s) you want to keep walk away.
 
I think a lot depends on the PG situation....

If we end up with a draft pick, we can pick up Marshall to replace Harris...

If we don't.... Then reupping Harris becomes completely necessary and could definitely throw a monkey-wrench into reupping Millsap...
 
I feel like, right now, I would rather see Jefferson alongside Kanter and Favors, simply because you can actually run your offense through Big Al. In two years when they have hopefully developed, I'm sure I would much rather have a team-guy that can contribute more to winning than just scoring points. The only thing I'm concerned with is the question of how well Sap is going to play in his 30s. Granted he's only just turned 27, so I probably shouldn't be worried about it yet.

Big Al is going to ask for a boatload of cash.

I think reupping him is completely out of the question.

Besides, Millsap can play the 3 and the 4.
 
What 17 ppg, 9 rpg, 2 spg player that can play the two hardest positions to simultaneously be able to play (3 and 4, because one is a perimeter position, and one is a big position), can lead the break, is the sole torch-bearer for the franchise, and the best player over the last two seasons for a team is not worth more than $7 million a year? Which, by the way, is less than he's being paid.

4 years $32 million is what he's making. Pretty common knowledge. Average it out. But apparently, he's overpaid.

Only on ****ing Jazzfanz.
 
Paul Millsap is becoming the player that AK and Lamar Odom wished they actually were. 2 bad he's 2 short ok
 
I love this guy and I'm glad he wants to stay. I like him at 3 as well as 4. Get it done KOC, and do it before someone else has a chance to lure him away and we get in a Portland-wants-to-screw-us situation.
 
are there really people saying that keeping millsap means no kanter? really? does kanter look like he's ready to play 40 minutes per game?

favors, yes... he's ready to explode and i honestly think all he needs are steady minutes to become, as a next step, a 15-and-12 guy who is the anchor of the defense. but kanter looks a ways off, and even if he were ready to slide into the favors role, we still need, at bare minimum, a solid third guy in the big man rotation. paul + derrick is a great starting frontcourt tandem, with kanter coming off the bench for now. if kanter gets his stuff together and can move into a starting role, then you either slide paul to the 3 permanently or you have a great trade asset that tons of teams would love to have. but you just can't hand 96 minutes over the kanter and favors at this point and expect the jazz to be very good.
 
One thing people overlook about Millsap is that he's 27-years old [fixed] but he's still getting better. His overall numbers may not show it, but from this year to last year, Sap's ball-handling and ability to pass off the dribble has improved, he's gotten better attacking the basket, and defensively he's much more active with his hands.

Yes, we all know length can overwhelm him at times but he also has improved tremendously in competing against superior length...the one player he used to really struggle against was Gasol because of Pau's length and mobility (obviously Boozer struggled mightily against Pau too) but this year Millsap's really had his way against Gasol, facing up and using his quickness not only to get buy Pau, but to finish at the rim. Comparing him to Malone is foolish, but like Karl, each year Paul seems to come into camp with 1 more improved facet of his game. In alot of ways Millsap is a finished product, but that doesn't mean he still can't become an even better player after 6 years in the league.
 
paul's 27, but other than i agree with the oeuvre of your post. the guy's a beast, he never quits, and he's exactly the kind of veteran glue you want on a team of up-and-comers.
 
I'd rather have Millsap at 12 million than Millsap at 7 million + the likes of someone like Kirilenko at 6 million.
