What's new

Game Thread Oct 31, 2024 07:00PM MT: San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz

Added to Calendar: 10-31-24

The Spurs have been building a team around tough defense, with Vassel, Sochan, Wemby, now Castle. When that all comes together, it's going to be as tough as the current Celtics, or tougher. The challenge will then be that only a couple of them can shoot.

They still have some work to do. and at Least add 2 good players. CP is washed and will retire before they are good enough so they need a top PG.. And on my opinion another good SF. But yes they are way in advance compared to us. They got Wemby, generational talent and few good and young players around him. My guess is that they will compete in 2 years from now.

Didn't watch the game, anything redeeming? Stat watching maybe Flip was decent? I'll be honest, I'm spiraling with pessimism and negativity about our future rn

I actually like the way Keyonte is playing. He's pressing and making some mistakes, but he plays hard and makes some nice plays.

The Spurs went 22-60 two seasons ago when they won the lottery and drafted Wemby. The Rockets were likewise 22-60, but fell in the lottery to #4, where they drafted Amen Thompson. Detroit was 17-65 and had something like a 22-game losing streak that season.

Jazz must be aiming for a 20-win season, tops.

I really did enjoy arguing with people who thought we were going to be 8-10th worst. Fun times, full of hope.

17 of Cody’s 24 shots are from three to go along with only one shot at the rim and four FTA. It does remind me of Exum. Getting to the basket and scoring is supposed to be their main thing, but the are too physically behind/handle too weak to even use that part of their game. I’m not sure Cody can start developing his offense until he gets his head above water physically or with improved handle. Until then, his offense will probably be mostly spot ups.

Also like Exum, I think his on ball defense is a bright spot and encouraging. It’s about the only thing he can do well, but it’s a nice skill to have.

I can’t believe our good fortune! We really did it, we are by far the worst team in the NBA and the consensus choice to win the tank race for last place, yay!!! And though I’d love to change our snake bit draft luck and pull the right ping pong ball, the thought that Cooper Flagg could lead this squad to the promised land is downright idiotic!
