Off-Season Rumblings

I think Mario will be good, I will never give up on him just like Exum lol. I think he can be similar to what Simone developed into.

Absolutely.....Caruso is so valuable. I guess the interesting part about this for me is that Marks sees Lavine as less than Clarkson+Collins. No way Caruso is only worth the 25 Cavs pick.
Yeah it shows the fact that the Lavine contract is underwater or more underwater than the Collins/Clarkson deals. I'm team tank but if they did this type of deal it makes sense.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks proposed this trade.
Jazz get Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso
Bulls get Clarkson, Collins and ‘25 Cavs pick.
Yeah, I'd take that. The Cavs pick isnt going to be good. That trade makes the Jazz really damn good.

Also you can flip Caruso for a lottery pick if you believe the rumors that the Bulls turned down a lotto pick for him.

Dang that's a good trade idea..we eat up our cap space but if Lavine (let him rest this year) returns to form, we get a poor man Mitchell and Caruso but we give up a valuable Cavs pick.

Still room to play with our remaining picks.

Not me. I think they did very solid. Built assets, drafted well, developed some players well, kept flexibility, and didn't waste any assets. Also did not completely **** our team by going scorched earth. We have a borderline all NBA player that's a unicorn and easy to build around with a million picks plus a handful of very young players with solid upside.

We could not have tanked more the first year. The team surprised us and played better than expected and we got a great player emerge that's worth way more than any pick that year besides the very low chance at #1. After the break we fully tanked which is the only time we could have. We got great players that are arguably just as valuable as anyone after the first pick.

This year we went into the year with the same team that lost a ton. The only way we could have been worse was trading away Lauri, which is really stupid. Also this years draft at the top sucks and it isn't worth it. But we did move up as much as possible at the end and got extra assets to do it.

Jazz did a great job.
Totally agree with you on this point.

I guess by that analogy Donovan was a house we were behind on payments so the bank was going to repo/he was leaving.

Gobert was the house too expensive to renovate and getting old. He was a huge contract, getting old, and not someone we could rebuild around. He needed stars next to him and lots of great role players to do something.

So yeah, I'll take the cash 10/10 times in those scenarios.

Either way we can just sit back and draft until we land someone who is a huge difference maker, which is seemingly the way to go and those players are coming from all over the draft lately. Or we can use a chunk for that and have a ton to trade when it opens up. Owning a lot of the picks helps them be more valuable since it thins the market. Supply/demand.
Amen. Boston did exactly that. None of their star players or high contributors were acquired via FA.

Depends a bit on intelligence we have about Cleveland's pick next year, but unless that's a lottery pick this is a good deal for the Jazz.
