Offensive Behavior

Well, I'd rather be a jackass than a hippy, non-shaving Paul Bunyan wannabee, arrogant, weed blitzing, shack in the middle of woods living, Canadian, hockey fan. But that's just me. Oh, no offense, btw.

That's overkill, Archie. Simply pointing out that he's a damn hoser is more than sufficient to utterly crush him and destroy all his credibility.

Time to reexamine my opinion. I'm clearly on the wrong path.

As an aside, I can't BELIEVE my "rep power" is still at zero!

They don't have negative ratings, is that it?

On a "feel good" note, I don't think you have deserved any deducts, so far. I will only deduct for "jailhouse tats and cornrole" posts and ****** trade ideas. Oh, and having Archie agree with you.

+1. Well said. More than likely, you are probably wrong if I agree with you. I mean after all, what can I say? hehepeepeecaca!

I disagree.

Well, Mo, if ya don't mind, lemme see if I can pin down where you're coming from. I don't think you ever directly responded to my scenario, so let me resurrect it.

Assume it's late at night, you're leaving a bar, and you happen to notice someone pissing in the alley. Let's assume that they were not deliberately trying to "expose" themself to you. So, then, in that case:

1. Do you feel compelled to call the police?
2. Are you going to wait at the alley entrance until they emerge and then give them a stern warning and lecture about their impropriety, while assuring them that the next time you see them doing it, you're gunna call the cops?
3. Are you gunna immediately attempt to effectuate a "citizen's arrest."
4. Are you gunna avoid confrontation but bitch and moan about the whole incident to your companion all the way home, fretting about the "offensivemess" of it all for hours?
5. Are ya just gunna go on to your car and not really give it a second thought, or what?

Kind of an unfair question. Moe is female, after all.

I don't think he's so easily crushed. Though he's probably disappointed that there aren't any actual Canadian teams in the NHL finals.

(note: this response makes much more sense in threaded view. just sayin'....)

and aint, why does it matter how I would personally respond? I'd still think it's disgusting. Public urination is not something I would advocate as a general routine course of action.

Another scenario, just to kinda elucidate what I'm tryin to get at.

Suppose someone tells me they don't like my religion, my race, my sexual orienation, or the color of my shirt. Obviously I'm being "dissed," so how should I respond, and what, exactly, are my rights so I can make that person pay for disagreeing with, and disrespecting me?

Let's take their blatant "insensitivity" a step further and assume they have flatly said: "Your [religion, race, or whatever] sucks." OK, now they have really tromped on all boundries of propriety, doncha think? So what can/should I do? Should I get defensive and beligerant?

My first question would simply be: So what? Who cares? Do I give a rat's *** about what this guy thinks? Has he "hurt" me by not sharing my values?

The last thing that would occur to me would be that I needed to call Mama and have her make him stop.
