Hopper.

What a perfect nickname.

Yeah I agree, you had just said he has a nice little 17 footer.

Yes, he does have a good 17 foot jumper. He's gonna need more than that, but I think he'll get there. I've said in other threads that his upside is Pippen and I'll stand by that. Pippen struggled in early years. In a few years I think any team would be happy to have him.

It's sort of baffling how underrated Pippen is to some people. Best SF ever until Bron. Comparing a guy to him is silly.

A Gordon is more Jan Vesely than he is Pippen.

Vesely is a better comparison than Griffin. However, still not a good one IMO. Gordon is a much better playmaker. He ran the point some in high school as well as in some Arizona scrimmages. He could play either wing position in terms if ball handling and shooting. More of a point forward type.

I remember pippen well. I remember how mad fans were when he was drafted. Most fans were calling him a bust after just first year... he was a single digit scorer and I also remember him being a really bad free throw shooter as a rookie. He became a legendary small forward and I honestly believe Gordon has the tools to also become a great forward.

There are a lot of variables. Right coach, right system, right support, work ethic done intelligently. However, he has the instincts needed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's a sure thing, but the potential is there. I think his downside is higher than Marvin Williams, and his upside is very high.

I am on board with picking Gordon. Everyone at 5 has their own flaws. I think he probably has the highest ceiling of anybody we could pick there. Therefore, shoot for the moon.

I think Vonleh has a higher ceiling than Gordon FWIW, if we're talking about Chris Bosh / LeMarcus Aldridge type potential.

Even if Gordon becomes Blake (and that's a big IF), I'm still saying Aldridge is a better talent.

^actually, this.

Vonleh has the tools necessary to be very good.
Whereas Gordon is a bit more of a gimmick.

Then do you think Exum has more potential than Vonleh? If so by how much, and is it worth giving up #23 to grab him?

I would do that in a MINUTE, if need be.. not because of my own opinion, but the opinions of those I trust that are saying Exum will be spectacular.
