What's new

OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

I wouldn't either. Because I would know that I have fans like stoked who will pay to watch mediocre basketball.

As opposed to all the fans that stop supporting the team and suddenly there is no team. Stop trying to act like a dick because you fail at it.

If you want to pretend there is no difference between continuing to support your team and blanket condoning of every action they take then fine. You are wrong but fine.

More like fairweather.

Fairweather? Like I have said, I have watched all Jazz games for a long time. I loved the 42-42 season and was excited about Arroyo's future.

If I was a fairweather fan, I would be liking this year, because the Jazz are winning.

The real answer is more along these lines: bored fan.

Bored of watching Al throw up a weezy with four guys on him...and miss.

I usually tune in about 7:45...end of the first beginning of the second, when Al goes out. At halftime, I put the kids to bed, tune back in end of the third...when Al is out. Usually don't watch the end of the game once Al comes back in.

I'm just bored with him.

Jordan Crawford for an expiring player that's out for the year? Crawford is junky, but holy ****.

And Raja is still here.

:/

I haven't been keeping up with the Raja news. Why are the Jazz holding onto him? Is it a pride thing? "Don't act like a douche or we will sit your @$$ at home with pay!"

Presumably. Either that or he's injured and untradable or something. It seems like we got really butthurt about the whole dispute and told him to pound sand. Hard to know though.

I agree that this is not a team that will progress in the playoffs.

I understand if there's no deal on the table, I just wish that management would more strongly push development of younger players over trying to win at all costs. A trade of Millsap or Al would mostly comfort me that they understand this, and know that Jazz fans aren't stupid.

Because there is zero chance for a meaningful post-season run?

But you have to take into account the rapid growth of Favors, Hayward and Burks as well though. Who's to say they can't improve at all over the next 40+ games?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm EXCITED about our future.

Because there is zero chance for a meaningful post-season run?

Because the Western Conference is middle-heavy with two very good teams at the top like the last 5 years and a small streak one way or the other rockets or plummets you in the standings? Because the Jazz haven't gotten appreciably better in the last year and you could make an argument they've been slightly worse? Because their starters routinely dig themselves in a hole only to be bailed out? Because the Jazz have a weak win differential, which points to how fast they could plummet?

Oh jeez. The if the Jazz leave Utah, it will be because of the moves they make. Not anything I do. If they keep making moves like trying to build around Al, then, yes, they will leave.

Jazz fans will support a team working towards something, see the 42-42 season. Smart jazz fans won't support a team going nowhere, especially when they are being told time and time again they are building towards something but nothing ever happens.

Recent Jazz history:

Stockton and Malone retire.

Bad season, but fun to watch, with players to build around = hope.
Sign AK to a max, we are going to build around him.
Sign Boozer and Memo.
Boozer and Memo get hurt, bad season.
The Jazz take a risk, move up and get Deron.
The team looks very promising, AK holds this team back. This is where the crap begins. We can't trade AK because he is an asset. His contract doesn't let us get better, we reach a ceiling 4/5th seed.
Boozer isn't our bedrock post player. His contract is coming to an end. We can't trade him, he is an asset. We lose him for a second round pick.
Resign Memo. He is an asset. We get almost one season out of him. We trade him for nothing.
AK's contract is expiring. We can't trade him, he is an asset.
Send three firsts for Al, didn't use our "assets" to get him.
And now history is repeating itself.

It's getting old. At least try.

Because the Jazz have done nothing to show that they are willing to play the young guys over the vets.

If we have Al, and he plays 20 mins a night, I feel completely different right now.
