Going for 2 was absolutely the right call, but unfortunately Troy Williams is one of the worst playmaking QB's I have ever seen. Wide open Carrington in the endzone, but Troy doesn't look up.

He does well at getting out of tough situations and avoiding tackles, but someone for the sake of all that's mighty, tell him he can pass it after that.

I'd give him credit for that, except that he scrambles into pressure for no reason at all over and over. There will be a perfect pocket, but instead of stepping into it he wanders off to the side and then does this ****.

Great kid, bad football player. He isn't close to being a Pac12 quarterback.

Didn't he go 9-3 or something like that last year? He's a PAC 12 quarter back, for sure. Huntley is clearly better though.

Also almost won (maybe would have in overtime) on the road against a top team in the country.

Also troy williams didn't allow usc to get 532 yards. The defense played a part in the loss imo.
 
I guess it's not Troy Williams fault the Utes lost, he's just not good enough to win. Making the easy plays, such as passing to a wide open receiver in the endzone, just isn't something he's capable of. It's just like the Shelvin Mack thing. We shouldn't be blaming a guy who we know is not good enough to get the job done. This level of play should be the expectation.
 
Think he had his mind made up that he was going to run and didn't look up to see Carrington was running at the back of the end zone by himself. I actually like the play call because you can suck the D in and pass it, unfortunately Troy thought he had Huntley wheels on him, which he does not.
 
hate to say it but probably are sitting at 6-0 and a top 10 ranking if Huntley doesn't go down. of course it has to be the arizona game we lose him in. our nemesis.
 
There was a stark contrast between what Troy Williams did on that two point conversion. and what USC did in their last touchdown.

Darnold made a dart towards the end zone which drew defenders to him. He then actually ran backwards a bit and lofted the ball over the defender. He was able to do this because he kept his eyes downfield and looking for his receivers. This is the difference - staying open to possibilities instead of heads down and trying to make it happen yourself.

TW seriously just put his head down and started trying to figure out how he was going to get in the end zone and didn't look for his receivers.

That was brutal.
