They made the Utah mistake of assuming Rudy can cover for everyone. Sad for Rudy. I hope he gets to play on a team that surrounds him with good 2-way talent at some point.

A lot of people on here claimed that KAT/Ant were good defenders so I knew they had never seen them play before. Minnesota's biggest issue is that KAT just doesn't fit well with Rudy on either side of the court. Rudy's presence in the paint has also hurt their spacing because McDaniels is basically a non-shooter while Ant/DLo are just average shooters. Ant in particular loves to just rim run but he literally has 0 dunks so far this season.

With Rudy on the court they have a 103 offensive rating while they have a 119 offensive rating with him off the court.

Wow. I wasn't sure what to think about the Rudy/KAT pairing, thought it could maybe work. I didn't expect it to fail as bad though. One problem is certainly difficult personalities. But if I was Finch I would have a look at Jazz 2018/19 playbook. We still worked much better on the offense with Rubio rookie DM Ingles Favors and Rudy. And imagine if Favors had been as good shooter as Towns. When I watched Timberwolves a bit this season it struck me that their guards don't make much use of Rudy's screens. I found it also weird that they played Rudy and Towns like 10 minutes together in the preseason. Thought it should have been a priority to make those two acquainted with each other on the court.

It's mostly due to Sleepy Gary, imo. Never been impressed with KAT. But really just added one tough guy to 4 soft guys and didn't retool the offense to fit the new dynamic. If they had a rim-running playmaker to go with Gobert, ala Joe Ingles, to run the screen/roll/kick type offense, they could be stellar, with decent spacing, but they don't have the 3 pt shooters either. Bad team-building after the trade. Didn't do anything to plug any of the holes, and yes, gave away all their nasty.

But it could make for one hell of a season for us, if we keep winning AND get a top 10 pick from the Wolves. Wow.

Yep. Bad team-building all around really. Surprised me how bad they are too. I figured they would struggle a bit out of the gate but then figure it out and get rolling at some point. Still might I guess. But I think that the 5 starters are just clashing too much and there is too much quit in a couple of them at least, so it is tough to see them bouncing back.

We got all their guys with no quit in them. And it shows in our current, never-quit team. Quite the contrast. Shocking really.

The Wolves have been one of the worst franchises in the league for a decade outside of last season. KAT has been paired with stars throughout his career and hasn't played winning basketball, Edwards hasn't really shown that he can consistently play winning basketball, and DLo is pretty mediocre as well. Their team has always been known to be soft and they added another cry baby that's soft in Rudy.

McDaniels is basically useless with their starting 5 while Ant/KAT's games are both negatively impacted by Rudy as well. KAT has to be a spot up shooter and Ant can't really drive because their spacing is terrible.

Everyone really under valued the amount of effort that Quin and the front office did to build a team that complimented Rudy. I mean really what other player in the league had a roster crafted around their strengths to the same capacity Rudy did here?
