Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

The lottery gods better punish some of these blatant tanking teams like the Mavs and Portland. Basically just reward us for being us.
I mean, the Jazz are blatantly tanking as well. Not like Portland has been, but certainly on the next tier.

I would hope they think they might actually have the pieces to be setup, cuz they do, they will still finish in the 4-7 range (where I think the pool is flat), and they will likely get a second lottery pick.

The Jazz have a less-optimal situation as building from the ground up goes, where their best player is a reclamation project on his second contract (less time, less team control), they don’t have a pick next year, and are situated to where this is maybe the only year they’ll have access to the top-10 of the draft for a number of years. The Jazz could also entirely drop out of the top-10.

The Magic have also been ****ing irrelevant since, what, 2012? Conversely, the Jazz have made the playoffs most years since the late 1980’s, but have only made a conference finals once by luck in the last 20 years (what I am attempting to illustrate here is winning a bunch of regular season games and being an early-out in the playoffs is ooooooooold hat and bores the ever living **** out of me [and I assume a fair amount of others as well]).

Both teams are setup well, but they come from very different contexts.
I agree with most but I'm not sure we are in a "less-optimal" situation. We have the biggest puzzle solved by having an all-star and they are just hopeful Banchero or someone will eventually turn into one. Also there is a fair argument that Kessler right now is a better NBA player than Paolo, albeit its apples to oranges comparison with them playing so different game.

They need time to grow and we need to add pieces. They might never reach the ceiling people imagine them having, and we might never find the right guys to take us to the top. Both setups have risks but as you said both are in a good spot as well.

OKC on the other hand is scary and likely gonna be a good team for a long time if they manage to hold on to their guys and get over the hump. Jalen Williams and SGA are very good and I think OKC is ahead of Magic in roster quality, roster upside and progression timeline. To catch and rule over future OKC, we need to hit at least a few draft picks and make a few very savvy moves (FA/trade).

This means Dok is going to average 25/12/3 and carry us to a few unexpected wins.

Prepare yourselves.
Absolutely... Dok will score 50 against a centerless OKC and we make the play-in.
