OKC as a blueprint

The point is when it isnt the right piece, move on. Thats all. Not going to write a journal entry on top of your book long posts.

If you want a quality team then you have to dump the baggage and pick uo quality winning pieces.
"book long" lmao

Thought you wanted to talk about OKC as a blueprint like the rest of us and not just repeat how much you hate Keyonte over and over.

Actually, OKC traded away future hall of fame players. Lots of them.
Elaborate. Since not many guys make the HOF it would be difficult to trade lots of future HOF players. I think the Harden trade for sure, though I am not sure how they avoid that one wit the cap space - which was not our issue at all.

Also Paul George, which is how they got SGA. That trade kinda mirrors what happened with the Mitchell trade for Lauri, but while Lauri blossomed into an all-star, SGA blossomed into an MVP-caliber player.

The blue print is that you have to acquire an elite top 5 player and two other star / borderline star players t

In year three of their rebuild, OKC was barely out of the playoff picture and finished two games under .500. The Pacers were a bit worse but the thing they both have in common is that by year four, they were back in the playoffs.

In OKC's case, they had the top record in the west in their return to the playoff after a three-year absence. Indiana made the ECF when they returned after their three-year absence.

Does anyone really expect Utah to make the playoffs this upcoming season? Utah is so far away from being a playoff team at this point that it's pointless to compare them to two franchises that had relative quick rebuilds.

What we see in this thread is healthy skepticism that there is particular "path" to building a championship team. Yet, the Jazz FO was so confident that there was a path, and this path involved completely dismantling a winning team and condemning the team, it fans, its corporate sponsors, etc. to probably 5, possibly 6, and possibly more than 6 years of losing basketball. All this notwithstanding no other team in NBA history ever won a title following this particular path. I think a bit more humility and skepticism would have served the FO well before it embarked on this path.

There is no such thing as a blueprint. Many good moves/ideas from teams who have not won, many poor decisions made by teams who did end up winning. All you can really do is make as many good as possible and have a lot of luck. Trying to copy another team as if a blueprint exists seems like a surefire way to fail.

One thing I do find interesting about OKC that is in stark contrast to UTA is their drafting strategy. OKC prioritizes defense and BBIQ, they do not prioritize shooting/scoring. Jazz have taken the opposite approach.
