In year three of their rebuild, OKC was barely out of the playoff picture and finished two games under .500. The Pacers were a bit worse but the thing they both have in common is that by year four, they were back in the playoffs.

In OKC's case, they had the top record in the west in their return to the playoff after a three-year absence. Indiana made the ECF when they returned after their three-year absence.

Does anyone really expect Utah to make the playoffs this upcoming season? Utah is so far away from being a playoff team at this point that it's pointless to compare them to two franchises that had relative quick rebuilds.

What we see in this thread is healthy skepticism that there is particular "path" to building a championship team. Yet, the Jazz FO was so confident that there was a path, and this path involved completely dismantling a winning team and condemning the team, it fans, its corporate sponsors, etc. to probably 5, possibly 6, and possibly more than 6 years of losing basketball. All this notwithstanding no other team in NBA history ever won a title following this particular path. I think a bit more humility and skepticism would have served the FO well before it embarked on this path.

I’d take Chet no contest. Better with the ball pretty close shot making Chet is the better defender. Blocks shots and a great passer for a big. He just does way more and is quite a bit younger.
