What's new

On the record...

And IDK, I might lose interest in the Wolves very fast.

I was an ever bigger D-Will fan and I just couldnt get invested in the Nets even though I tried. A big reason for that was mostly due to D-WIll kind of falling off immediately, but also because I always thought his teammates were lame. I dont think the same will happen with Gobert so they should probably hold my interest longer.
Yeah, I overrated the Wolves players, but I was at least self aware I was doing so. Sadly this is going the way of the Nets with Dwill.

I hope Minny sucks all season and wins the lottery for us. But its also pretty early in the season, things could turn around.

They definitely seem to have some real locker room issues though. I dont think its Gobert but its also hard to overlook two seasons in a row with two different teams having crazy locker room issues and one player being front and center. I could be wrong about the source of those issues.

Either way I am really glad we traded Gobert based on the haul we got and I dont want him back unless its for 1/2 the price we sent him out for, the same goes for Mitchell.

Things could turn around but there is a zero shot they magically become a top-3 team in the West with all of the issues they have.

The locker room issues aren't player related as much as expectation related. I really have no idea how they are this bad though. It shouldn't be this bad at the lowest of points for them. Way too much talent.

I think there is probably a frustration over what they gave up to get Gobert. Overall this is just a case of less of the sum of its parts. This was a core of guys that went ******* over winning a play-in game. Too many egos, too much overthinking, Ant and KAT both being weird in their own way.

I should have just gone with the history that says KAT isn't a winner. He's the guy who ran Jimmy Butler out of town. Anything you can say about Gobert and failing, you can say triple for Towns.

I just hope they sell Gobert and takes their losses. Maybe they can get a first and a handful of players that fit the way KAT/ANT think they are supposed to play, however that is.

Not necessarily, they have the talent and teams have turned it around in those scenarios. But that said I somewhat agree its highly unlikely at this point, maybe they make some minor changes and put things together this post-season or next year. But I am actively rooting against them for sure every year we have their pick.

That is a huge maybe/assumption. I am not saying its wrong but that is unknown at this point. Thats why I said I dont think its gobert and I guess I should say I dont know what the issue actually is, but there is huge issues with a team two years in a row that should be a lot lot lot better than they are and Rudy is the only correlation. He might not be the causation though. I think time will tell, although he probably close to his downhill period.

This is textbook liking a player so much you think nothing can or will go wrong. When it does you’re sitting there wondering how you got there then start making up excuses for why you’re there instead of facing the facts.
Without this mindset I wouldn't be here with you guys enjoying one of, if not THE most entertaining start of a season ever.

I don't think Rudy is the main problem either, but I also think he is probably the kind of player who demands a lot from himself, and from others, and if there are (in his eyes) stupid locker-room issues being in the way of a good team, I think he'll be pissed off at those who he sees to be the problem, perhaps making things worse.

I don't think he was the primary cause of the locker room problems here, but I think he was part of making it hard to fix.

Not sure they can even get a first now for the contract he’s on and how hard he’s been to fit into their offense.

Probably what excited me the most once the Gobert and Mitchell deals were done is the fact that it’s not super uncommon from year to year to see a team we all think should be contending start to underachieve. Not only that, once the wheels start to come off, you see these teams get a little more nervous about their star’s health.

If Minnesota is still **** by the all star break, I could easily see them shutting down KAT or Gobert if injuries start to pop up. Sure, they’re not getting a good draft pick out of it, but they pushed all of their chips to the center of the table when they acquired Gobert and there’s a lot to be said about living to fight another day.
