Pacers Making Play at Millsap?

Hibbert is slow and lumbering just like Al. It would be too easy to run on them. There offensive games are redundant as well, both are generally iso post up players.

I recognize they are both slow, but to me it seems like Al would thrive next to Hibbert. Sure they play similar games but why should that be a disadvantage? Howard, Noah, etc. can only guard one of them. They are fine on the perimeter and attacking the rim with 3 of these 4: Collison, Hill, Granger, or George. I guess this is all opinion, but I really think Jefferson/Hibbert could do damage in the East. But I guess there would be nights in which they would both disappear and then their offense dies..

There's nothing the pacers have that I would trade Milsap for. Maybe I just like the guy too much, but to me he is the kind of player you trade for, not trade away. He is consistent, clutch, and versatile. He likes being here and always gives it 100%, he's the last guys on this time I want to see anywhere else.

Collison and George's salaries add up to 3.8 mil. Millsap makes 6.7 mil next year per Hoopshype. Per David Locke salary have to match with 140%. 1.4 *3.8 = 5.32. We need another player to make this work. I like Colison and George as players. If I had to pick I would take George and Posey with a draft pick. I would then waive Posey. Of course we could go the other way and make it Memo + draft pick for Posey and George.

Indy is way under the cap, so they can take on Millsap's contract.

As for a trade w/ Indy... Granger would've been ideal if we still had DWill but KOC s/b building for the future & Granger's contract isn't a LT solution.
I would love a swap of Paul's but I don't think Bird would do that. Paul for Psycho T & a protected 1st??

If Millsap is still on our roster, we are going to have a dilemma for big-men minutes...
Al & Memo should start w/ Favors off the bench (Kanter should get DLeague experience because of his lack of experience) & Hansbrough as the 4th big.
Millsap has become a fan favorite because of he was a 2nd round pick, his size, hustle, etc... but I'm sure the fans would accept Psycho T as his replacement.

Picking up Granger would be cool if we still had Williams and were trying to compete for a title. Given our current circumstances with rebuilding I don't see the utility in these deals. If we're wanting to maintain some long-term mediocrity these deals make perfect sense.

Agreed.

No thanks to Granger and Hibbert. Any deal with Indiana involving Jefferson/Millsap would have to land the Jazz George+.

This.

IMO, Pacers are just one of many teams that were hoping Utah would give away one of their bigs on the cheap to clear up the log jam. I don't think they're serious about trying to trade for Sap, so much as looking for a steal. I see this going nowhere.

It all comes down to floor spacing. Neither are good passers, so it would be a field day for any decent help defender.

I'm not going to argue this point but it doesn't "all come down to floor spacing" and you make it sound like they would be completely shut down by of help defense. They may not "good" passers but it's not like they are physically incapable. It is all opinion but I would love a Jefferson/Hibbert combo down low over Millsap/Hibbert. Especially with good wing players.

Can anyone think of a SF better than Granger that could be realistically had for Millsap? Good luck.

Here's the thing with Granger - on a lousy team he puts up sexy numbers. Takes a load of shots - ALWAYS has the ball down the stretch in close games. We've all seen guys like this before. Juwan Howard in Washington, Shareef Abdur Raheem in Vancouver & Stephon Marbury off the top of my head. Put him on a good team and he's more like 15-16 ppg. Still very solid numbers - but numbers you want to tie up 40mil with? No way. Granger is fools gold.

What's with this myth that Granger is a high volume shooter? He only took 16 shots per game last year. His two best years he was 18 and 19 shots per game, that still isn't that much considering he was far and away the best player on the team at the time. He shoots good %, great from the 3pt line, and gets to the foul line. He is a decent rebounber and a good defender.

Also, Granger was great in the playoffs last year compared to his team. Averaging 22, 6, and 3 on 48% from the field and 35% from 3 (Luol Deng guarding him along with what was considered to be the best defensive team in the league). You pair this guy alongside Hayward on the wings and you have deadly shooters who are more than capable putting the ball on the floor and making a play.

Admittedly I have always had a man crush on Granger. I like his game. He is overpaid, but I think he only has two years left on his deal. That means he expires when are rookies are still on their rookie deals. We won't really need to sign any big FA (or probably be able too) so I think if Granger for Sap is on the table, (if I was KOC) I would take it.
