Paul George and Kawhi to the Clippers

They pursued Kawaii. He was never theirs to lose. They could have made the choice that they were going to build a good team without him, like we did in trading for Conley instead of waiting on Harris or DLo. They chose to pirate someone else's free agent while some sure things slid off the board. Screw them, they got what they deserved.
Easier said than done. Pursuing any UFA comes with risks. We "pursued" Hayward and it was never a guarantee that he resigned with us. We "techinically" had a choice. But as a jazz fans would you even consider telling the Jazz FO to not try resigning Hayward in 2017? Just look at what Knicks and Hornets did this summer and what their fans think of it. There isn't really a choice for us in 2017, or for the Lakers this summer. Either play or get played. But you have to play.

So Toronto turned down a trade offer for PG13 & Westbrook because of Westbrook's contract and also having to give up Siakam?

Id say that pretty dumb. I get not wanting Westbrook, but you also lose Kawhi too.

I wonder what picks OKC was asking for as well.

Does it matter which picks you give up? You gain Paul George and keep Kawhi Leonard and the cost is taking Russell Westbrook? I’d have done it if I was them.

I'm still confused as to how this would've worked. George and Westbrook alone(assuming no other players leaving OKC) are 70 million in salary. The Raptors don't have close to enough salary to send back.

Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka and Pascal Siakam would have been able to do it or atleast be extremely close.
