Easier said than done. Pursuing any UFA comes with risks. We "pursued" Hayward and it was never a guarantee that he resigned with us. We "techinically" had a choice. But as a jazz fans would you even consider telling the Jazz FO to not try resigning Hayward in 2017? Just look at what Knicks and Hornets did this summer and what their fans think of it. There isn't really a choice for us in 2017, or for the Lakers this summer. Either play or get played. But you have to play.They pursued Kawaii. He was never theirs to lose. They could have made the choice that they were going to build a good team without him, like we did in trading for Conley instead of waiting on Harris or DLo. They chose to pirate someone else's free agent while some sure things slid off the board. Screw them, they got what they deserved.
