Paul George looks like he broke an ankle /leg /looked awful

I've had a similar injury...I think people crying about it is a bit much.

Of course. Because

A The people suffering the injury usually go into shock.
B Your career didn't depend on your body.

I think Kyrie crying probably was a bit much. But look at the other player reactions. Having seen and heard this type of injury I can tell you that although I didn't cry I was shaken and lost all interest in playing the game for a while.

If people want to pray for George let them. If our beloved Mr Max had suffered the exact same injury, would you be making fun of Indy fans praying for Hayward?

If they want to pray for it to rain doughnuts, why not? What do some of you have against prayer?

Says the person who has never seen any serious injury in person.

I remember people hearing rows and rows up Ware's bone crunching.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a similar sound from George's leg.

It's disturbing to say the least.

My best friend in high school was running against Payson high when a guy came down low and crunched his leg. The sound and look was disturbing.

For people who haven't experienced this, I can definitely understand your lack of empathy. For those of you who have, I think we all know, it's disturbing to watch and especially, to hear.

Another Thriller rant. Where to begin. I love your assumption that I've never seen anything like this in person but I can't say that I'm surprised.

I won't ******** you and say I have when I haven't. But I also know how I would generally react in this situation if I had seen it. I know that because I've been through much worse (dealing with my brother's suicide for one) and have perspective. This wasn't the JFK assassination. This wasn't Kyrie Irving's mom being bludgeoned before his very eyes. It was a basketball player who is getting 90 million in guaranteed money (should his career be over) breaking a leg that in due time should heal just fine. So much so that he may be able to sign another 90M contract. So knowing that, to watch a grown man bawling like Irving did is a bit much for me. This doesn't mean I don't have empathy. I feel awful for George. It means I'm not a 14 year old girl in 1964 in the front row of Shea Stadium, screaming, bawling and passing out over the fact that the Beatles just walked out on stage.

Just watched the video. Really getting sick of these injuries, and most of them seem to come from things that aren't related to play but trying to avoid things like the beam, or running into cameramen.

Tibia/fibula break. A clean break, but I maintain he could be back by the All-Star break depending on his rehab. It's possible that they may hold him out for the year especially if Indiana is meddling and PG can only come back at 80%. The worry about rushing back is him putting additional pressure on the knee to compensate for the leg's integrity and ripping up his ACL which would be even worse.

Part of the reason he handled it so well is shock, but even prior to that, he manned up.

Packers offensive tackle Derrick Sherrod had a tib/fib fracture and he hasn't played in almost 3 years. Every one is different, and basketball and football are completely different sports. . . But it might not be that simple to recover from.

Also offensive tackles usually carry more weight on thier legs than nba wing players

That's true, but the point is that he can't play basketball until he can bear weight on it in game situations. Depending on his recovery, that might never happen. Sherrod has 100 lbs on George, but he's never had to run or jump like him in his life.

I really hope that this unfortunate injury leads to a complete restructuring of the arena playing space. These guys are so athletic, that they need more room. While these types of injuries are rare, they're not rate enough. Nerlens Noel (the perceived #1 pick in the draft at the time) blew out his knee in almost the exact same way. The fact that it happened to a $90 million Max player should get the league to rethink their floor space and what kind of investment their players are for them.

I had an injury that I would have traded for this one in a heartbeat...I blew every ligament in my left knee and toasted my meniscus. Yes, ACL, MCL, LCL, PCL and even the patellar tendon all gone. Happened in an avalanche in Alaska. A tib/fib fracture is pretty serious but as others have said hopefully he doesn't have ligament damage to his knee or ankle. I've known about 5 people who have fractured their tib/fib, one friend of mine did it TWICE. All of them had 100% recoveries. Hopefully Paul's injury is similar and he is back within a year. I agree with everyone that the standard and the media need to be moved the #$% back.

Wow. Your story is nuts. I don't know how to ask this sensitively so I'll just ask. Did you think you were going to die as the snow came barreling down at you? That had to be terrifying.

What the hell is wrong with showing emotion over something happening that was horrific? Everyone has been through worse then this but what the hell does that even matter? Humans can show emotion, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Sorry that you are so macho that the fact that a man crying over something happening to a close friend of theirs bugs you. I think its pathetic on your part.

LJJazzman, thank you for the neg rep. I won't be childish and neg you back but I'm curious, since your rep stated as much, where did I say one shouldn't be emotional over what happened to George? I have no problem with anyone being emotional over this. For me, I wouldn't even have a problem with someone welling up or crying a bit. But to sob in your dad's arm is for me, for the third time, a bit much. I'm sorry you can't distinguish between all that.
