What's new

Perhaps this is the defining moment for Hayward

You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you. ~Walt Disney

Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are. ~Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha

Rise up (this time) Mr. Hayward.

From reading this thread it appears that most of you have given up on Hayward.... The Jazz, however, have clearly not. At this point I choose to support their position.

Time will tell!

I'm grasping for straws here. Shocker00 and you both obviously make really strong points - but since he's barely 25 I'm still holding on a shred of hope that a 'basketball revelation' was still in line for him. We'll see... a pissed off Hayward would be just what this squad needs!

25 is the old 27 though and therein lies the problem with him and his development or lack thereof to this point.

Guys are so lame here ,you got three guys going on about him being 25 ,an old 25 ....and he just turned 24 earlier this year ,kinda like get your sh*t right 1st of all

Totally agree, most of these guys have given up on Hayward who just turned 24...Idiot talk...The Jazz believed in him to sign him for millions and quite a few other teams would have too.I just look at some of these guys handles and skip their posts.Ive found that same who trash Hayward ,trash Kanter ,now trash Exum.Wanna be NBA scouts who always go against their supposed team and why they like these young guys that are ready to make their mark in the NBA

I thought we were talking about Haywards toughness or lack there of.

I didn't know that meant I had given up on him...... and kanter and exum too.

It was a west willy, not a wet willy. It's okay West is in the SL while Haywards got a max contract. I guess that's why he doesn't have to act tough. I would at least have liked to see a demeaning gesture at least, like with what LeBron did with Lance.

I guess he's too white.

How is it that Jaymz's comment wasn't considered racist? Oh well... I need to get off of a soapbox I guess, but racism is still racism regardless of what so called 'race' is being subjugated.

Regardless, my hope is that Hayward really thrives under a new coach. I have VERY little confidence in Corbin. I have for years. He is the main reason our youth movement has sputtered at best. The minute that we signed Corbin over Horney, we lost 3 years and a it looks like recovery may take a bit more.

I haven't given up on him. It's that I (and a few others) took (and continue to take) so much **** from a lot of dominant posters when I predicted his big contract and why DL could easily justify it, so I quit posting support for him and a lot of jazz stuff. It's too much brain freeze for some to drink.

I hope Hayward has a big year and proves all the haters wrong.
So do I. But a big year would not necessarily discount most of what has been said in this thread. He can have a big year and still not show leadership or toughness.
