Players only meeting.

This feels like a demonstrative show of " I will end this **** if you don't figure it out tomorrow". Board of Governors meeting gonna be really interesting. that is where they can call the players bluff... could terminate the CBA and there would be monstrous financial considerations. Wonder if they balk... wonder if the owners get offended that their lip service isn't seen as real support. I wonder if they will give Tillman Fertita the zoom link or mute him the whole time.

I think this **** over... I think we may lose the season next year too...

We have an unprecedented moment in modern WORLD HISTORY, where the players have stopped a multi-multi-billion dollar institution in solidarity with human rights, and we have people on Jazzfanz telling them it’s either a hollow gesture or counterproductive. That THEY know better.

to quote Doc Rivers, “I think it’s AMAZING.”

This **** really dangerous. I hope the players have great well informed help. They will give the owners an out to tear up the CBA... they are staring at a loss next year so losing a season not a big deal unless they lose money on the new tv deal they need to negotiate. They were already losing steam there.

Everyone's resolve will be tested next 24 hours.

Explain to me what comes out of this? How does any of this change anything. Do you really think people are going to change their stance at this stage? Seems to be a victory for those boycotting to me.

All strikes are ever used for is to leverage power to make changes happen. This problem is so much bigger than some bad cops, it’s a system rotten to its roots and needs to be fundamentally changed. Them continuing to play games, keeping the machine humming, and people blissfully distracted keeps the status quo alive and well. The spotlight on social justice was the compromise in order to start the season, it wasn’t the goal.

The whole point of strikes is to cause disruption. It is the entire point. And this is seismic.

Imagine the CBA getting torn up by this. Guess we wouldn’t have to worry about the Supermax with Rudy.

I think the pandemic stopped trillion dollar industries. No idea in other states, but in Utah everybody spent their money on the following in chronological order: TP, sanitizer and cleaning agents, then stay at home entertainment (bikes, pools, fences, home improvment whatever, sod, PCs) Money just moved, it's not like it hardly stopped anything here. I truly believe this is counterproductive. I think it fades like the unity 911 brought us.

In short, the whole point of strikes is to cause disruption. It is the entire point.
These owners and bigwigs will be perfectly fine without them. It actually gives them huge leverage with CBA. The ones hurt are the lower paid players and contract players.

My point is this disruption doesn't disrupt anything. It doesn't change a single thing. It actually hurts as the NBA is a much bigger platform than any other option.

Good. Just delete the entire NBA and start fresh. One where a salary cap means something. One where contracts aren't fully guaranteed. One where teams can use a franchise tag to save their franchise. One where officials get fired for being terrible. One where a small market team isn't just a farm team for LA and Boston type cities.
Do it. Please.

I do worry that if they see this all the way through that they lose their leverage and the losses on both sides will be fairly catastrophic. If they don't find ways to keep everyone's attention they will lose a part of their influence.
