Players that could be had for Memo TPE

I know when you trade players it has to be within 50%, so if you trade a 10 million player you can get a 15 million. Don't know if that is the same with TPE?

If you have a $10M TPE, you can trade a $2M player for a $13M player if you are not a tax-payer ($2M * 150% + $10M).

Unless something has changed, there's no flexibility in salary matching. The salary absorbed is either smaller than the TPE, or it's not absorbed.

In short, no (unless, again, something has changed).

In the previous CBA, there was a 25% flexibility for any team over the cap (teams under the cap could trade for any disperity, up to the level of the cap). Under the new CBA, it's 50% for those under the tax level and 25% above the tax level.

Well we haven't heard the Cavs owner wine in a week for two.

Rondo for the trade exception might be enough to set him off forcing Stern to stop the trade causing WW3. on Jazzfanz... LOL

He wouldn't waste his time. His thought would be, "Its only the Jazz."
The Cavs owner probably called up--or texted or emailed--Greg Miller to congratulate him (since it's a partial win for a "little guy") ...

I know that they probably won't go for it, but it would be awesome to trade for Steph Curry. They still have that conflict of Curry/Ellis, and we could trade Jefferson (they need a good low-post scorer) and the maybe the TPE for him. We get our PG and outside shooting threat.

This is a fantasy. Golden State will not trade their franchise player unless they get a BETTER player in return. Otherwise they will trade Ellis instead.

With a TPE though, the acquired player's salary must be less than the TPE. You can't do those same calculations for TPE's.

And why the hell would anyone want Jose Calderon? He kills transition opportunities and is possibly the worst defender in the NBA.

We seem to potentially have our 4 and 5 of the future along with 2 and 3. The 1 is solid right now, I believe, but no real future prospect. Burks may be interesting at the point if they want to develop him that way. It could be like the Heat who use their wings to primarily handle the ball instead of having a legit PG. Burks and Hayward are both good ballhandlers. Harris/Watson should hold down the position for another 2 years or so and we can draft a PG moreso for developing.

It probably is fantasy but getting a guy closer to Ellis status definitely is not.

The beauty/curse of this TPE is the jazz can now offer to take back a bad contract to even up a trade. Say Jazz offer Al Jefferson for Monta Ellis--just so Numberica has a replacement guy to hate of course--and offer to take Biedrins salary as well. Now I'm not saying this trade is good or bad, it's just an example of the flexibility the Jazz now have.

Look for teams with bad contracts that need to get dumped (start the Howard dreams and Bynum screams now).

Golden State was hesitant to trade Steph Curry in package for CP3, no way we are getting him.

I like Mo Williams and Jose Calderon. Calderon is my dream Jazz Point Guard. He doesn't dominate the ball the way Deron did and kill ball movement. He is the closest thing to stockton in the league. I am not saying he is stockton but his game is more like his in terms of passing vs shooting. Which we need on this team. Somebody who is efficient and takes care of the ball while getting enough shots to all of our players.

To get Brandon Knight along with Calderon for only giving up Harris and someone taking Bell's contract we would have to give up the Golden state pick. I know most of you are hesitate for that but I think Brandon Knight could be better than that pick and Calderon is better than Harris so I think its worth it.

I would think the Raptors would have to get that draft pick or the Pistons could have the choice between the Golden state pick or there own pick. The later one goes to the Raptors for taking on Ben Gordon's horrible contract. Raptors like guys like Gordon and they are under the cap and could take on his contract while getting a lottery pick for next year for doing so.

Calderon - Knight - Watson
Miles - Burks
Hayward - Howard - Evans
Favors - Millsap - Evans
Jefferson - Kanter

Thoughts or modifications to make it work?

I would consider Calderon an upgrade to Harris. He is just so god awful defensively. I think he could thrive in Utah though.
