Gymnastics superstar Kohei Uchimura of Japan made a costly error to begin his Olympics campaign – as his addiction to Pokemon Go threatened to land him with a $4,954 phone bill. . .

After landing in Sao Paulo for a pre-Games training camp last week, Uchimura downloaded the game and played it during his spare time – unaware that he was racking up an enormous sum in roaming charges. . .

With the start of the gymnastics competition now just days away, Uchimura may be saved from himself in the Athletes’ Village, where competitors have complained about the absence of Pokemon Go connectivity.

The world officially has its first Pokémon master: Brooklyn-based Nick Johnson recently revealed that he’s caught every available Pokémon in Pokémon Go after traveling the world to do so.

In July, Johnson made headlines when he managed to capture all of the 142 Pokémon available within the United States. Though he caught ‘em all within the U.S., Johnson was still missing the three creatures that are only available on other continents. To players’ knowledge, there are currently a total of 145 Pokémon available to capture — six legendaries within the original 151 are thought to be unattainable at the moment. Of these 145, four rare creatures can only be found on specific continents, making the process of collecting all of them very difficult.

Luckily for Johnson, Marriott Rewards and Expedia teamed up to book the promising trainer flights to Paris, Hong Kong, and Australia to complete his Pokédex. Johnson did not waste the opportunity, catching the three Pokémon he needed specific to those locales: Mr. Mime in Europe, Farfetch’d in Asia, and Kangaskhan in Australia.

Johnson officially completed his world Pokédex on Thursday by catching Kangaskhan.

I guess congratulations are in order.

What's some of the best egg hatches you guys have done?

My best was easily a 1500+ CP Lapras with 32 candy from a 10k.

Watched the police break up a fight over a gym last night. People from all 3 factions were there. 2 of the factions were duking it out while the dudes from the 3rd fraction just kept poaching the gym with 10cp Pokémon as soon as it went grey. They got into a shouting match that led to fisticuffs. It was actually hilarious because 4 of the guys were easily late 40s couch potatos.

What's some Pokemon you guys have that you're proud of? I genuinely love hearing about others highest CP, egg hatching stories, etc.

Question-is it better to power up early forms of pokemon to max before evolving? For example I have eevee with 500 cp should I make her 600 and then power up or at the end it won't matter?

I evolve anything that's within 1/3 of the top CP (on the curved line above the picture of the Pokémon) then as I catch better ones I trade in those for candy. I have also been building an attack deck of 10 Pokémon to go after gyms, along with an extra 6 I don't fight with but keep to place on the gym. I think powering up is a waste unless you are building your top team. My top 6 I have powered all to full power, but my fighting deck are all within 1/3 of full power and I have no intention of powering them up.

BTW finally hatched a lapris. 2260 CP. Not bad.
