Remember when the Tazer was presented as an alternative to shooting someone or beating them senseless with a night stick?
Now, apparently, for fat cops, it's an alternative to having to chase someone.
Yep. A tazer is "less-than lethal." It is intended to replace firearms where the use of a firearm would be justified, but less-than lethal force can accomplish the same outcome. I see it as a way to protect police officers from having to kill a person when they can use an alternative that saves them that trauma. When less-than lethal force is used it should be in an instance where the life of the perpetrator could be taken justifiably. If that's not the case then less-than lethal force should not be used, at all.
