Popovich praises the Jazz

Look at the wins the Jazz have.

Suns (1), Cavs (1), Blazers (1), OKC (1), Spurs (2), Heat (1), Grizz (1), Bulls (1), Bucks (1), Warriors (1), Pelicans (1), Nets (1), Pistons (1)

That is 14 of the Jazz's 21 wins. All of those teams are playoff teams or in the playoff hunt. The italics = road games. Now not all those teams are equal but they are all playing to win.

Jazz also have wins agaisnt the Kings, Lakers, Wolves (2), 6ers, Knicks and Magic.

Jazz have done this while dealing with being one of the youngest teams in the league, new coach and system, injuries, d league call ups and 6 starters/rotation players being rookies and sophmores. All while playing a very difficult schedule to date.

During this time the Jazz as a team and as individual players have shown fantastic growth. Especially Gobert, Favors and Hayward. Burke is turning it on lately.

Of the Jazz's remaining 27 games 15 are against weaker teams like the 6ers, Lakers, Kings and Wolves.

Snyder has this team clicking and I think the Jazz post an above .500 record from here on out. Next year he will get COY consideration.

COY consideration means deep playoff run so I hope you come up right.

Meanwhile, Ginobili says that the Spurs just played bad in all aspects. I think he really meant to say outplayed in all aspects. Jazz coulda easily won by 20.

Most those wins came against teams in disarray (i.e. OKC had Westbrook and Durant out; Cavs were losing every game and still figuring it out).

That same argument also applies to the Jazz, possibly even more so. But then you have wins like the Warriors, Spurs, Bulls, Pelicans and Blazers ones where there are no excuses.

I am not sure you are aware but this is Jazzfanz. Any indication, no matter how minor, that the FO has done anything right will not be tolerated.

I suspect GVC and mission accomplish will go on a mini hiatus while DL bask in the lime light of success for a while... LOL

There will always be an excuse for the negative nancies, that's who they are that's what they do.

There was a more telling comment by Pops later on that really typifies what the Jazz can become post-Kanter. We did give up some open 3's, but for the most part our switching was very effective and shots were challenged. You just don't go inside on Utah anymore unless someone gets lost on a back cut.

''I thought we took a lot of contested shots that we didn't need to take,'' Popovich said. ''I don't think we played very smart in that regard but I thought for the whole 48 they were aggressive and they were focused. It was real impressive.''

That's the key. Against both Portland and San Antonio the Jazz have played aggressively and remained focused for 48 mins. When Gobert is out, Favors and Booker are still challenging players inside. The backcourt players are actually guarding the perimeter. They're getting in passing lanes and fighting for every loose ball. 29 other teams are going to absolutely HATE playing against Utah. We may soon be regarded as the toughest team in the league. And Ingles might get a reputation as the baddest *** of them all. He looks goofy but just gets under guys' skin. Ingles and Booker were such great signings!
