I don't watch porn!
ever!
Congratulations!
I don't watch porn!
ever!
My .02 pesos... My problem with porn (wait, that came out wrong), my concern with porn is that it is addictive. I know many people who've had their marriages ripped apart because of porn. To pretend that it is harmless and only provides entertainment is a false narrative.
I have similar gripes about fast-food restaurants, which are far more immoral than much of the porn that is produced.
Anybody that doesn't like porn or bacon is imo a liar. I wonder if there is any good bacon porn out there. "Peppercornhole" "BLTT" "Smoked Sausage" Ok maybe that last one doesn't count but it all sounds delish to me.
What about network TV, commercials and just about every corner of American culture that sells a prepackaged image citizens should fit into? The men and women in porn choose to participate. You realize this right? They aren't enslaved and forced to engage in intercourse on camera.
There are many things worse than porn - cheap clothes made in Bangladeshi sweat shop for pennies, iphones made by kids in chinese factories, oil companies ruining and poisoning native communities in S.America that fill up your gas tanks, and yet you raise the issue of porn being immoral. Porn is a form of entertainment, just like the violent video games are...Or you'd argue against them too?
There is no victim when one objectifies another? What about voyeurism or peeping Toms? What about young women who are filmed without their consent? You make it sound like you can distinguish between good porn or bad porn. The truth is that porn simply objectifies.
Seriously 4 pages and only one recommendation. C'mon..
I think there is a youtube for porn. Youporn or porntube or something.
I do believe that pron can have sever negative effects. However, when you say a marriage was ripped apart due to porn, I don't just accept that on face value. How did porn rip apart the relationship? Did the woman feel that it was akin to cheating? Was his porn use really impacting his life and his marriage to that degree or was her attitude towards porn the more destructive element?
Anyway, I highly doubt the perfect marriage was destroyed because someone looked at naked pictures. I'm guessing it's not that simple.
He got sick of her spending so much time on the computer... Just kidding. She got sick of being compared to the women who appear in the videos and in magazines (let's be honest, they aren't real and the perception they create isn't real either). He couldn't/wouldn't control his appetite for his addiction. Couple that with the never ending desire to make it more and more kinky and that was pretty much it.

Lots of things have negative side effects. One can eat too many donuts, play too many video games, etc. Is this really a problem with porn, or with the decision-making and self control of the individual who has allowed this to happen?
