Part of me wonders if this happens if our crowd was more diverse. I would hope all people would not be tolerant of this ugly behavior, but if we had a few black fans next to this guy would he be saying this stuff? I just don't know how a fan next to this guy didn't tell him to cool it. I've asked fans (at football primarily) to chill with some of the poor language and for the most part the oblige (usually because of kids).
The millers and organization were pure class and the timing of the news indicates they worked with league here. Good job by everyone managing a ****** situation. If FA choose terrible organizations like the Knicks over us because of a few idiot fans then I think they are missing the bigger opportunity.
Dunno there's a pretty diverse population in Melbourne, continental european, asian but you still hear the odd racial slur. Last year someone threw a banana onto the field near an indigenous player. I've heard a couple of asian guys say some awfully racist things. I think it's a mix of factors. But there's certainly an element of sheltered white ppl that are responsible which will probably take a generation to change
