Bucks are a bad fit. Hard to match contracts. Knicks might be the best fit. GS I think is a solid fit since they need more creators.

JC basically needs to be advertised as the cheap alternative to lavine and capitalize on teams hesitating to make a move for the fomer

No need to advertise JC. People know what he is. The contract is easier to move next year but he’s basically worth an expiring and a handful of seconds. If a team needs a bench scorer they will call us.

Not at his current contract. Mikal is overrated in terms of people thinking his 26ppg production with the Nets over 20 games were sustainable. But he's still one of the most valuable guys in points per dollar. He never misses a game and can literally guard every position/play every role asked of him. Every team will want a guy like him with his contract, which inevitably causes the price to hike.

Id like to see him as a 2nd option. He's basically been a 1,3 or 4 in terms of scoring option but he's probably best suited as a 2nd.

That’s kind of the point. Mikal’s trade value is very inflated compared to the value he provides on the court. When I hear BKN say their plan is to build around Mikal…..I think that’s a mistake. IMO he’s best as a minus-usage player who can put his energy into defense. If he’s an average usage player, his efficiency is going to be about average. Above average usage, well he’s going to be a bit below average like he is right now. But he’s also not a high usage player that bring a a ton of value by breaking down the defense and opening up things for others. I also believe an increased offensive role comes at a cost to his defense.

If their value is equalish, they should make that trade. Don will provide much more on court value and trade value means nothing unless you actually trade that player. If they sit in Bridges and keep his role as is I think he will lose his luster as a trade piece and he will also not bring them the success they are hoping for.

I’m not speaking at all from a Jazz perspective btw. I’m just saying that if I was a BKN fan, I’d be looking to cash in on Mikal at peak value.

Never said he was overpaid…he’s just not as good of a player as people think.

They have a great roster if they were to land a guy like Donovan and I think that could happen in a couple ways. If Cleveland takes it all the way to FA I think Nets can outright sign him. I think the best option for the Nets, as ugly as it sounds, is to become a low to mid level farm team who doesnt try to compete but just tries to stay afloat while maximizing player value and selling guys high, untill they regain control of their own draft. I think all other plans like "build around Bridges" or "try to hold on to guys to be a pseudo-competitive team" are just doomed with the assets they dont have and 5 years from now they are still gonna be mid and poor.

Its also the best strategy for the only good path out of their current state. That is simply to get lucky and have someone pop. Churning through guys should increase the odds of finding a diamond in the rough.

And I know 4 years of purgatory followed by a tank sounds like a bad plan, but it may be the "best plan available".

Nah... they have Suns draft (looking good) and other decent picks like the Philly pick and a Dallas pick and swap down the line. I definitely hold Bridges unless someone blows me away with an offer. I retain all the talent I can at decent prices... they may sign Donovan in FA or get a steep discount in a trade for him (they have all teh leverages maybe?). At very least they should invest in a real pg and offload one of Dinwiddie or Thomas (one gunner is enough). I would move DFS and/or Royce but just because they don't really need them. See if you can get Don for Cam Johnson and a couple picks in the offseason. If you can't wait until the summer and see what FA yields... Bridges can be on the market kind of but don't force a sale as there is no benefit to being bad for a few years. They have plenty of spots they can churn in the meantime. I would not rush to become the Wiz without any picks the next few years.

I'm going to wait as long as possible to sign up for a purgatory and tank plan. Bridges still has great value next year, the year after that maybe it goes down... but he will be extension eligible so an acquirer may still pay close to full ticket price.

But if they churn through those assets without adding new ones, what will they be? Mid team who is looking to get a lucky late lotto or late first pick that hopefully turns them into a contender. Its not like they have enough to turn them into a contender by shopping with them.

They dont have the "tank option", and they really dont have the "win now" option either without taking massive gambles which could result in them being bad for a decade.
