Predict the Rudy Gobert trade

To me the rumor about the Bulls looking for ways to get more picks in order to include in Gobert trade is weird. Are we looking for picks or win-now pieces?
My fan theory is that we want a guy like Jerami Grant. Putting a guy like that next to Don changes the dynamic for us. He's a legitimate two way player. Detroit wants picks for Grant.

Well if we can get Williams, Vuc and picks for Rudy then turn the picks into Jerami Grant, our entire outlook has changed.

Or the plan is to send Rudy to the Bulls but send Chicago trade picks to Atlanta for John Collins.

I think it’s likely we don’t like White and Vuc so we sent them shopping for alternative assets we can use. First would make sense since they can be used to get a prospect you do want or flipped for players you like.

If I was guessing at the offer… I’d say Williams, Vuc, 18, White is on the table and we’d like more… if they can get some of that more by flipping the Vuc or White pieces then they don’t dig in their own pockets.

I think the extra first could be added to a guy like Bogey to do a Bledsoe, 7 deal. Locke mentioned this on his pod… which was weird… I haven’t seen it anywhere and Locke acted like it was the hot rumor.

Is it true that because of the protections on the 2024 pick and the Stepien rule we cannot trade a first round pick (outright) anytime between 2023 - 2027? Because we cannot trade a pick two years in a row and because the OKC pick could convey any time between 2024 - 2026 if I'm understanding that right it means we cannot outright trade a pick until 2028!

If we are making trades for Gobert hopefully we get a 2024 pick back in exchange.

We can... it just has to be conditional on the OKC pick conveying. We shouldn't be in the business of trading picks at this point.

Seems like a few people are trying to put some water on the flames of the Rudy to Chicago report yesterday.

This makes sense. Jazz may need to be willing to move a player like Royce or even Bojan in order to maximize the value of their return. But it's telling that the Jazz are actively trying to make a deal come together.

Since no team interested in Rudy had the 'perfect' package to offer the Jazz in return, it seemed inevitable that a 3rd team would need to get involved to balance things out. Jazz have 48 hours to make it happen.

This is where I'd love to see a team like Portland or Washington get added to a three-way scenario and upgrade the draft capital--i.e., trade back to #16 from ATL or #18 from CHI and pick up a player in the package. Jazz could then move up to the lottery.

If Jazz are pursuing a trade then they have to move him
Will look bad if Rudy is not traded
I think between the general bad vibes... lack or real leadership... and Rudy being shopped like a pair of shoes on Stockx we are kind of at the point of no return.

I think my realistic best case scenario is we do the Chicago or Atlanta deal and flip 16 or 18 with Conley for KCP/Ish/10... or you send Bogey/the pick for #7 (hopefully they use the trade exception so we don't have to give out value for dumping salary somewhere). I could also see a simultaneous deal where you send Bogey/16 for Bledsoe/7 and then send Royce into their trade exception for their 37th pick and a couple future seconds.

I think trading Rudy and Bogey or Mike will leave a vacuum that will cause the Donovan/Jazz partnership to explode in terrible ways.
