If the Jazz acquire Collins from Atlanta, they could probably flip him to Portland for #7. If it were me, I'd make that deal for Daniels, Sharpe, Mathurin or maybe Duren.
He's a very good player. I do think JC/Capela/16 is an overpay for Gobert/Bogey.
I mean there is some middleground here. He's not injury prone but he's not an iron man. His suspension skews the numbers a bit here but he plays in almost 80% of the games available. So he'd miss an average of like 16-17 games a year. That's like 3x more than average. It disrupts their season and production as it takes a couple weeks sometimes to get all the way back to normal.63 out of 72 and he played in all 18 playoff games.
41 out of 51,
74 out of 82,
61 out of 82, and he was healthy this year till ASB.
21 missed games was his most till this year where he had to have surgery. That's not an injury-prone player. Injury-prone players generally misses 30 games a season. Hunter is someone I would say is injury prone but not JC. He's far more reliable. In the modern NBA, 10 games missed a year normal.
Kevin/Capela/16 for Gobert. Makes senseThe "chatter" is two of Collins, Capela and Huerter plus #16 for Rudy. Overpay for adding Bojan too would seem to come from the Utah perspective.
If Atlanta extends Hunter to some big deal, the ideal trade for both could be
Rudy and Bojan
for
Collins, Capela, Huerter, #16 and maybe something else
Atlanta could ride out the contracts of Bojan and Gallinari before Hunter's big number hits. They would be a year away from Bogdon leaving. Financially, Atlanta would have a plan.

I can agree with that. He's no iron man. I agree with that. Trae is probably the only ironman we got on the squad. I have 12.8. When you add 29 games missed this year, it jumps his number from 7.8 to 12.8. The suspension doesn't count to me. That's not an injury.I mean there is some middleground here. Hunter is worse but I promise you JC's durability is something that drives his value down a bit. Will it improve? Hopefully... he's on a long deal so I would consider it strongly.
Soooo Hunter has actually been pretty meh on defense. He isn't the guy he is touted to be.I thought the whole idea behind the front office possibly trading Rudy was to improve our perimeter defense...I don't see how a combination of Collins, Huerter and Capella does that. I don't think I'd make a deal with Atlanta unless Hunter is involved.
Thats fair. I simply took the percentage of games he played over the time period. I pulled the suspension games out because it isn't fair to count those. I applied the percentage to an 82 game season to normalize the numbers a bit. There has also been some wonky seasons so maybe with stability he improves or is better able to stay healthy. I think its part of the way he plays... guys that are bouncy and athletic tend to get in situations where they can get hurt. He has a lot to his game but its why I'd expect JC to miss more games than like a Bojan type.I can agree with that. He's no iron man. I agree with that. Hunter is an excellent man defender. Who takes on all of our toughest assignments at the 1/2/3 positions. He's more like a Dillon Brooks where his metrics don't speak highly but his tape does and he defends the best matchups for us. So he's very valuable for us. He's not much of a team defender nor help-side defender and his rebounding rate is very low.Soooo Hunter has actually been pretty meh on defense. He isn't the guy he is touted to be.
I think the idea is Clint does some Gobert stuff... JC has actually been solid for the most part... which is amazing cuz he was looking like he may be awful as a rookie. Huerter is fine. I think its the increase in perimeter size by moving Conley (the second shoe to drop).
Here is the deal... we won't be better on defense... it would be hard to trade one of the best defenders in the league the last 8 years and improve defensively. This trade gives some upside through younger guys and the draft... theoretically replaces a portion of what Rudy brings.
All Rudy trades will likely be a step back... unless the players and picks we acquire become better than expected.
He's not a wild athlete. Most of his injuries are more for the physicality of the position more than jumper's knee and things like that. What's most amazing about JC is his ability to catch lobs. He has elite hands and it seems like he can catch anything.Thats fair. I simply took the percentage of games he played over the time period. Hunter's injury issues would give me real pause on giving him a long term deal.
Kevin can defend well. Especially if he's not having Trae break the integrity of the defense. When he plays without Trae on D and with Trae is night and day different impact on D.I just don’t see the hawks as a match for a Gobert deal. H Gobert basically is the best perimeter defender in any trade with Atlanta.
Agree with a lot of this. Many on here are anti-Capela and I think he's still a guy we would want to have.Hunter is an excellent man defender. Capela is baby Gobert. He's an elite rim and paint protector but he's not the shot blocker Rudy is, he doesn't have the instincts Rudy has, and he's just not as good as Rudy defensively but he's an excellent defender. Rudy is AN ELITE defender. Offensively, similar but not as good. Elite at screens and the PnR but doesn't finish as well in traffic. Doesn't have a good touch. He doesn't ask or require touches. If he scores 5 points, he's fairly happy as he is if he scores 25 points.
No way you can lose Gobert and be better on defense. Not possible. He's just too significant in my opinion on that end.
I wouldn't say you take a step back, I mean, you are probably in the same position overall as you now but if you are trading Conley too, I don't know what to expect.
