Pres. Of Baskettball Operations Says Interesting Things About Draft, Tomic, and Neto...

In one post you seem to indicate that corbin was doing a good job with kanter and burks and then in the next post you seem to indicate that corbin was a lame duck coach and hurt them

"Maybe"

How do you evaluate Corbin on Burks' and Kanter's development when they've had no other professional coaches? What happens if those two don't develop any further or regress? It's too early to judge Corbin on development. We don't know what the "Corbin effect" is yet. So..."maybe".

Also, while the long-run development of the young players may have been delayed by Corbin's lineup and strategy decisions, I'd guess it's tough to get a lame duck coach to make decisions that increase the probability of losing.

The two statements aren't contradictory.

I see

Both dick moves imo.
One was from a veteran leaving the team (who i expect to be more of a professional) and one was from a kid with a language barrier doe.

But ya what kanter said was wrong too. (Notice how i agreed with you about that?)

What he said was the most professional thing possible.

Well how do you explain not hating everything about Corbin? You can't say "maybe" Corbin did something right around here and get away with it.

Actually he explained himself and i was fine with it. Sorry to burst your bubble

Poor man's Al is more appropriate. Boozer was a terrific team player.

Splitting hairs here. We had two offensive PF's who didn't play defense who were borderline All Stars. Kanter can only dream to be as good as they are. But yes, Boozer was a lot better than Al.

Murphy and Thomas are scrubs. Williams is an UFA who may or may not be back. If he DOES return, he's better suited to a SF role. Evans is a tweener who likely won't be re-signed after his contract is up. You can get better value from a drafted player on a rookie contract. Besides, the roster spot is better served by finding a big with size or a "3&D" SF.

Tomic coming over COULD change the complexion of the draft for Utah. I think Vonleh is BPA, but bring Tomic over and the Jazz would have to draft SF or guard (Gordon or Smart). I'd be ok with that, even though I think Vonleh has a chance to be special. If the Jazz go with Smart, then I think Burke would be the eventual casualty...but not for a year. You'd have Smart and Trey split minutes this season. If Smart is clearly better, then you look to trade Burke at the deadline or next summer. In that case, leaving Neto in Europe makes sense; there just wouldn't be playing time for him this year. However, draft Gordon and you could have Raul as the backup PG.

Reading between the lines, I think Perrin has disclosed a LOT. The possible "franchise-type players" that are three or four years away have to be Vonleh and Gordon. And I think they'll trade out of the remaining picks or draft and stash players.

They could trade Kanter if they draft Vonleh. And hell no to Tomic.

If it were a vet saying the **** Kanter said, he would have been crucified on this site. He was upset about more than just the young guys playing together (we've been over this repeatedly...). I really wish someone had asked Kanter whose minutes should have been reduced so he could play more. Kanter is a me-first player. He's simply not good enough to approach the game that way.

The team played better with Favors-Marvin than they did with Favors-Kanter. How did Corbin throw him under the bus? He played the most sensible basketball lineups.

Anyone who says Corbin is sensible has absolutely no sense whatsoever ... It made no sense to give RJ all those minutes or to start Marvin. This was supposed to be a development year. You don't develop players by giving them garbage minutes, which often was the case with Kanter, no matter how many minutes you say he played. A lot of those minutes were in garbage time.

I think the verdict is still out on Kanter. He is very young and could improve a lot. Boozer and Al were / are great offensive players, though not sure I would call them team players. I didn't see Al play this year, at least not much, and it was said his team play and defense showed improvement -- perhaps because he had a coach who knew better how to use him.

I think boozer was still at duke when he was 21
These people acting like kanter is not going to get better are wierd

I still believe in Kanter, but the dude has to come to camp in super shape this year. I know last year he had the whole shoulder injury deal, but still his lack of conditioning was alarming.

And say what you want about Richard Jefferson, but his end of season interview was eye opening when he said Kanter didn't believe defense was that important.

But what do you suppose was RJ's reason for repeating the Kanter "quote"? Doesn't it seem a bit odd that a player would deliberately hurt another player's rep in this manner?

Then please explain Favors's and Hayward's failures to meet our expectations in their 4th year.
I think that's his point. Neither Gordo nor Favs made a huge jump from Year 3 to Year 4. For the most part, we already knew what we had in them after Year 3.
