Pres. Of Baskettball Operations Says Interesting Things About Draft, Tomic, and Neto...

How much longer can the Jazz extend the leash?

So far he has had one season of decent minutes (on a horrible team as a backup to marvin freaking williams) so i would say the leash has not been extended all that much so far.

I think AT LEAST one more year

I wonder if there is a huge difference between signing someone to the max (which no one is suggesting the jazz do with kanter) and keeping a player who is on a rookie contract to see what he can do as a young player who hasnt played much.

Hmmmm, i bet there is a difference doe

dude, do I need to go bump the thread? Last year there was a "Kanter gettin teh MAX" thread and most people were agreeing.

so you are using in your comparisons a Boozer, who played in a Sloan team with great players like DWill, AK and Memo?
Jazz of last year were as organized as a D-League team, at best.

Yup

I agree.
But i think it shows that its possible for him to pass the ball.

Maybe a better offensive coach/scheme combined with better teammates would create an increase in team play from kanter...... along with increased experience and maturity as he grows up.

You seem to have kind of given up on all of young guys rather quickly.

Making an assessment after three years isn't "quickly". You can do that rather accurately with most players.

I think I authored it. Mostly against the idea that Hayward was asking or was somehow going to get maxed. Which, hell, he still might.

Let me play diary queen for a minute:

I agree with what you're saying here, but we all need to recognize that franklin was saying this stuff a while ago and getting killed for it.

Franklin also said burks sucks and would never be any good.

Oh and corbin is teh best

Oh sorry bro, im talking from the present day in a discussion of whether we should give up on kanter all together or wait another year to see if he improves.

You should totally start a new thread about whether we should max kanter right now doe

I'm sorry you got trolled.

Oh, and I'm sorry you can't see the massive deficits in Burks' game.

(btw, I think Burks' is a good player... and probably gonna get better... I'm a fan and always have been... but franklin has good points against Burks.)

I think its quick to judge considering the roles/minutes given to them along with the corbin effect.

Also kanter didnt play college ball and has not been playing any type of basketball very long in relation to other nba players, so i think kanter is an exception.

I think you read too much into comments made. I'm not too concerned about comments made not in a native tongue that can have lots of interpretation. I did see some willingness to make some passes from elbow/high post at the beginning of the year, but the failed attempts led Corbin to try to limit Kanter to his strong suits, namely one-on-one post play which turned out to be minorly helpful short term and malproductive long term.
Fair enough.

Tough to get the incentives right when you have young players and a coach without a contract.

Hopefully Kanter gets some time playing basketball with Turkey this summer. Playing ball is probably more valuable than lifting weights for Kanter.

I still believe in Kanter, but the dude has to come to camp in super shape this year. I know last year he had the whole shoulder injury deal, but still his lack of conditioning was alarming.

And say what you want about Richard Jefferson, but his end of season interview was eye opening when he said Kanter didn't believe defense was that important.
