Ideally, Hayward plays off ball. He just can't score effectively off the dribble (although he is a terrific passer). Unfortunately, the Jazz don't have anyone who can create for others or themselves better than Hayward right now.I really hope we don't jump the gun on the fact that he's only like 23 or 24 years old. I hope we don't jump the gun on the fact that this is the first time he's being asked to carry the team and be a leader. If he's putting up 18/5/5 in preseason now, what will he be doing by the seasons end? This is what is exciting. This is the same crap we heard after the first couple games about Favors! Now after last night his praises are being sung, and rightfully so. Hayward has lots of room for growth, and there's no doubt in my mind that he will improve and impress going forward. The return of Burke will help to relieve some of his pressure.
Also, I think people would be wise to reserve judgment on Favors. One good offensive game doesn't erase a handful of bad ones. With that said, he's been very effective defensively and on the glass. He'll be fun to watch this season.
