What's new

Professional Tank

Pierce championships as one of three best players on his team: 1
Chandler championships as one of three best players on his team: 1

To me, it's basically a wash. I like favors size though, and he will have a better career than Noel

Pierce title as the MAN: 1
Chandler titles as the MAN: 0

Number of players that are the MAN on the Jazz: 0

I'd take Pierce over Chandler any day of the week and twice on sundays.

Kevin Garnett was also the man. Ray Allen was borderline the man. That team had four great players. Macs had dirk and chandler and old man Kidd. I think size and interior d are just as important as what pierce can do.

You aren't trading Favors for Noel. You are trading Favors for Jabari Parker or Harrison or some other stud in next year's draft.

Favors has a TON of potential.....and limited improvement. He has been in the league 3 years now. He is running out of time for people to keep tossing potential out there. I have said this before, but I see Favors being a lot closer to Chandler than to Malone.

Would you trade Chandler for a chance at Pierce (Jabari) and Deron (Harrison)?
I disagree he's had limited improvement. Had he been a 30 min starter for 3 years, then yes, I think you could say he's behind where he should be. Just on the basis of increased playing time alone, you could project 15/11 for Derrick this season. And that's just fine considering he's primarily a defensive force. You're probably correct that he's closer to Chandler than Malone. But who IS close to Karl? We're talking about one of the best PF's EVER to play the game. I'm tired of seeing the Jazz have one-dimensional players. Both Favors and Kanter have shown they can be good on both ends. Noel? If he comes back strong from his injury he'll be a good defender. But who knows if he'll ever develop a decent offensive game.

Noel=chandler

Favors=caged beast.

Favors under Malone is the excellent chemical combination.

I'm believing that Jabari Parker is going to be a more sound, professional Carmelo Anthony whom takes great shot selection. He's definitely a Real Deal Holyfield.

Lets sign jimmer, draft Davies and then get Jabari. We can then rename the Utah Jazz to the Utah Mormons.

ESA becomes LDS ?

Already happened.

I have so much faith in the C4 and am convinced that getting a top 3 pick in 2014 would make us contenders by the 16-17 season, and maybe even sooner. The question is what it would take to actually get that top 3 pick. Even if we sign scrubs to fill out the roster, I feel like we'll be more along the lines of Detroit (8-10 range) as opposed to Charlotte territory.

I know some will say that even a pick in the 8-10 range in 2014 would be great, but if we're seriously going to go through with this tank, I want to go all out and get a superstar. We need top 3 four that, imo. That means we'll either have to have luck in the lottery, or one of the C4 would have to go down with a serious injury for us to have a bottom 3 record in the league. I don't want leave our ability to land a top 3 pick up to lottery luck, but I'm not sure what management moves the FO can do to actually make us that bad. Thoughts?

I think it's virtually impossible to be in the Charlotte territory, given that:

1. The Millers and our FO is just too proud to be that BAD, even if it's just for 1 year.

2. Charlotte, Orlando, Cavs, Wizards, Kings. These guys are a lock for bottom 5. You have to suck wayyyyyy worse than them to even crack to the bottom 5.

======================================

Seriously, I don't think we need a top #3 talent from next year to contend. If we can get a solid legit PG this year, then all our spots are filled with potential/fringe All Stars. So all we really need is a SOLID SG/SF next year.

Let's say we got #6 pick next year, DraftExpress says the following players will be within our rage:

- Andrew Harrison
- Aaron Harrison
- Dante Exum

Any of those guys I think will be more than enough talent to add to our core and contend.

Possibly. But there's no such thing as being too greedy when it comes to talent. If there was something the FO could do to make us that bad (minus giving up the C4), I'd undoubtedly want them to do it.

I don't think that's possible... getting them to just stick with C4 and play them heavy minutes is already a big leap of faith for the Millers IMO.

They don't strike me as having the guts to go through the same thing GSW tankers went through last year. I'd be pleasantly surprised if Dennis can convince them to pull if off though.

.. which is a bit sad. You can't get the GOLD if you don't want to get your hands dirty.

If Dennis is filled with holy spirits he can convince them. Do you think Jabari is filled with it too?

Filling the bench with D-leaguers and undrafted players would be a huge step in that direction. Ty would have nowhere to turn in terms of playing a vet 30 mins if his "vets" were, in fact, Favors, Hayward, Kanter and Burks. And any type of injury, even if it's for 15-20 games, to Favors, Kanter or Hayward would really rack up the losses.

2013 Wins: Orlando 20; Charlotte 21; Cleveland 24; Phoenix 25; New Orleans 27; Sacramento 28; Washington and Detroit 29. So 30 wins would put Utah at #8, if the record of the worst teams are about the same as last season. There will be growing pains. An incredibly weak bench, an injury or two...and the Jazz could finish with a record comparable to 2004-05 (26-56) and wind up with a top-5 pick. It will be a weird season, for sure. I'll be cheering for the core players to do well, but the bench to give up leads and the Jazz to end up losing each game.

First the amateur tank - Lose games get high draft pick.

Lots of teams do it. Some, seemingly, every year.

The Pro Tank - (Marketing/Merchandising/$$$$$$$)

We get these C4 prepared this year with about 30 minutes per game. Enough for experience but not too much for injury. They're spelled by has-been vets that suck (we got this!).

We draft Jabari Parker. A highly skilled SF/PF that is better than anyone on our team right now .. maybe even Kanter. AND he's LDS .. lots of great feel-good stories for the state as well as ESPN etc..

We, beforehand, do some trade with SAC that nets Jimmer.

Winnin Chips.

This Kevin OlongCon is testing my fan hood. Always $$$ for the dirty Miller, who refused to spend for a championship for Karl and John who both took pay cuts to the point of Karl taking to the media to get what he deserved. Why he's loyal is beyond me... Probably because they kiss his *** no matter what and he needs that.
