First the amateur tank - Lose games get high draft pick.

Lots of teams do it. Some, seemingly, every year.

The Pro Tank - (Marketing/Merchandising/$$$$$$$)

We get these C4 prepared this year with about 30 minutes per game. Enough for experience but not too much for injury. They're spelled by has-been vets that suck (we got this!).

We draft Jabari Parker. A highly skilled SF/PF that is better than anyone on our team right now .. maybe even Kanter. AND he's LDS .. lots of great feel-good stories for the state as well as ESPN etc..

We, beforehand, do some trade with SAC that nets Jimmer.

Winnin Chips.

Jabari Parker?

Wow.. I'm impressed. I thought you would endorse your UK boys,,,, you're turning over a new leaf here.

First, this was about mktg.. try and keep up.
Second, most people here get that I give fair assessments.. almost everyone but dancing with the tards.

So you think it Wiggins won't be a better marketing tool for us? With worldwide appeal? Does it matter who Michael Jordan plays for?

Firstly.. Wiggins goes #1. I never said we could be THAT bad.
Secondly.. Parker is money and could be a bigger story for Utah.. no joke.

Well Jabari will go #2.... so while we're dreaming.....

I wouldn't be so sure about that..

Wiggins
Randle
Harrison
Gordon
Vonleh
are the clear cut faves, imo.. then ..
Young
WCS
AaHarrison

Others will emerge. Parker, imo, is #4, right now.

randle is good. harrison is good. but jabari's floor's is paul pierce. no?

His floor????? are you completely stoned? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt .. out of the goodness of my heart.

Andrew Harrison - One of the top PGs to come out in the last 10 years. BIG, strong, handles, pass-first, range to NBA3 and everything in... fierce competitor.. mean as hell. Hurts defenders, they say.

Randle is .. just watch... do it all PF with range to NBA.. handles like SF.. passes.. leader.

Parker. Smooth as silk. Runs the break at a huge 6'9ish.. PF, imo. Awesome. Not explosive, at all.. but more skilled/mature/CRAFTY.

We'll have to see how all that translates throughout the season and into the draft. Excited.

Did you know that Lindsey worked for the Houston Rockets?

While contemplating this thread and what the Jazz might do you should look at the 2001-2002 Rockets and the moves that led up to drafting Yao Ming. in 00-01 Rockets finished 5th in the west, after their roster moves they finished 01-02 with the leagues 4th worst record.

This team gets a top 10 pick guaranteed next year. We will be TERRIBLE. Look at what we have going for us:

PG - NO BODY
SG - Hayward/Burks/Murphy
SF - Williams/Neal
PF - Favors/Evans
C - Kanter

That team is not going to get much higher than 30 wins. I said this elsewhere, but if I am Utah, I ask Charlotte and Cleveland if they want to do Burks, Favors and 21 for their pick this year and next, then draft Noel. That makes this team even worse:

PG - Shroeder/Larkin, Tinsley
SG - Hayward, Murphy
SF - Carroll, Williams, Neal
PF - Noel, Evans
C - Kanter

That team ends up bottom 10 in the NBA. Then you draft Parker and Harrison and suddenly you look AMAZING:

Harrison (top 10 pick)
Hayward (top 10 pick)
Parker (top 10 pick)
Noel (top 10 pick)
Kanter (top 10 pick)

That team is competing for titles.

The only problem is, I don't think Charlotte or Cleveland are desperate enough to do that deal.

Well the reason I said Pierce is his floor is that Pierce was no where near as good as Parker coming out of High School/College. So if we're assuming they develop at the same rate (and there's no reason to dispute that given what we've seen so far), then it's natural to project Jabari being just as good, if not better, than Pierce.

There's far more comps that did the same in HS and did nothing in the NBA...... just a poor premise.

I really like jabari, a lot. Biut I would never put a HS kid's floor at perennial all-star.

So his worst case is a HOF player? Glad to know. And here I was thinking prospects busted sometimes.

I'm not saying definitively that they will be who they're projected.

But the idea is to project each player based on their physical attributes & current skill level, and compare their projections fairly... and ranking them accordingly. As an example (Disclaimer: I hate comps, but I'm using them here for ease of explanation):

Wiggins - Jordan

Jabari - Paul Pierce

Randle - Blake

Andrew Harison - D Rose

Then you determine where their projections are on the continuum (projecting their potential when fully matured):

Wiggins - Jordan (ceiling)

Jabari - Paul Pierce (floor)

Randle - Blake (floor)

Andrew Harison - D Rose (wall)

Once you've done that, you can look at the likelihood of each player achieving the level you've projected (mental toughness, drive, etc, will be important here). Then you can rank them accordingly:

1. Wiggins
2. Jabari
3. Harrison
4. Randle

I'd love Parker, seems like a guy who's going to own the mid-range/3pt line, and surprise you from time to time dunking on your ***.
But what do we do if Parker comes in, move the Haywerd to permanent SG duties?

I'm sorry, but I would not trade Favors for a guy who just came off a SERIOUS injury in college. That could be the Oden disaster all over again.
And Favors is just too much potential to give up on. Trade Hayward. He's the only legitimate proven offense we have right now.

PKM What do you think about Dakari Johnson who is going to play for Kentucky next season, what's his upside?
