That team is not going to get much higher than 30 wins. I said this elsewhere, but if I am Utah, I ask Charlotte and Cleveland if they want to do Burks, Favors and 21 for their pick this year and next, then draft Noel. That makes this team even worse:
Cleveland with Favors and Burks will be 6-8 seed minimum in the East.

This team gets a top 10 pick guaranteed next year. We will be TERRIBLE. Look at what we have going for us:

PG - NO BODY
SG - Hayward/Burks/Murphy
SF - Williams/Neal
PF - Favors/Evans
C - Kanter

That team is not going to get much higher than 30 wins. I said this elsewhere, but if I am Utah, I ask Charlotte and Cleveland if they want to do Burks, Favors and 21 for their pick this year and next, then draft Noel. That makes this team even worse:

PG - Shroeder/Larkin, Tinsley
SG - Hayward, Murphy
SF - Carroll, Williams, Neal
PF - Noel, Evans
C - Kanter

That team ends up bottom 10 in the NBA. Then you draft Parker and Harrison and suddenly you look AMAZING:

Harrison (top 10 pick)
Hayward (top 10 pick)
Parker (top 10 pick)
Noel (top 10 pick)
Kanter (top 10 pick)

That team is competing for titles.

The only problem is, I don't think Charlotte or Cleveland are desperate enough to do that deal.

Another good reason to draft Schroeder. It will be a tough year for him. He can get some experience under his belt, and get the first year out of the way without us trying to do anything.

In year two he'd hopefully be ready to contribute a lot more, and help us make a playoff run with our tank prize + core 4.

Sorry ganja, but I hate this trade more than any trade ever.

I'm not saying definitively that they will be who they're projected.

But the idea is to project each player based on their physical attributes & current skill level, and compare their projections fairly... and ranking them accordingly. As an example (Disclaimer: I hate comps, but I'm using them here for ease of explanation):

Wiggins - Jordan

Jabari - Paul Pierce

Randle - Blake

Andrew Harison - D Rose

Then you determine where their projections are on the continuum (projecting their potential when fully matured):

Wiggins - Jordan (ceiling)

Jabari - Paul Pierce (floor)

Randle - Blake (floor)

Andrew Harison - D Rose (wall)

Once you've done that, you can look at the likelihood of each player achieving the level you've projected (mental toughness, drive, etc, will be important here). Then you can rank them accordingly:

1. Wiggins
2. Jabari
3. Harrison
4. Randle

You're so weird. Oh, and Rose is not a good comp for Andrew Harrison.. DWill is better.

I'd love Parker, seems like a guy who's going to own the mid-range/3pt line, and surprise you from time to time dunking on your ***.
But what do we do if Parker comes in, move the Haywerd to permanent SG duties?

Parker is going to score in bunches around the rim.. he's already NBA skilled in the paint.. VERY crafty.

PKM What do you think about Dakari Johnson who is going to play for Kentucky next season, what's his upside?

I don't know. He's changed so much as a player in the last year. I'll withhold judgment until seeing him this year. Prior, I would have said he's not an NBA guy.. but lately I'm getting more optimistic... I just don't know right now.

Ok so you are implying this could be the greatest draft ever and not even close. 2014 has some crazy talent, but some of the guys won't pan out as well as they are projected currently. Still a draft we should be aiming to unintentionally tank for, but rose, Jordan, griffin, pierce and god knows who else you have comped seems a little too optimistic.

I did have DWill in there initially, but then I could hear you whining in my head saying things like "Oh no way Harrison is DWill...Harrison's the bestest PG coming out of college over the past 10 years and DWill isn't even in the same stratosphere as him"

Well you first look at their 'potential' and work back to see if they are likely to fulfill that potential.

I swear I'll send you $1,000 if you can link me to a real post of mine that says anything remotely close to that. Just one..

Take out Jordan and I think the '14 draft really is that good.

No doubt one of the best, but here is my breakdown which is probably not as optimistic.

2 superstars: wiggins and Randall

3 all stars: Parker, smart, an.Harrison.

A **** ton of starters and sixth men.

Easily a top 5 draft with 5 franchise changing players. It's been many years since anyone could definitively say that. You always have the guys who could emerge through the course of the year that could add to that total. Interested in your rough breakdown.

That's a fair compromise. I never said it's the definitive best ever.. but historically superior to the average draft. As '17 will be as well.

Do you think Malone would be a great mentor/coach to Jabari Parker?
He seems highly intelligent, basketball IQ off the charts. He'd be unstoppable if Malone put him in the gym, and on the field.

I don't know.. I guess so. Parker is one of the most NBA ready forwards I've ever seen from a technical perspective... has all the moves and instincts are stellar.

I'm sorry, but I would not trade Favors for a guy who just came off a SERIOUS injury in college. That could be the Oden disaster all over again.
And Favors is just too much potential to give up on. Trade Hayward. He's the only legitimate proven offense we have right now.

You aren't trading Favors for Noel. You are trading Favors for Jabari Parker or Harrison or some other stud in next year's draft.

Favors has a TON of potential.....and limited improvement. He has been in the league 3 years now. He is running out of time for people to keep tossing potential out there. I have said this before, but I see Favors being a lot closer to Chandler than to Malone.

Would you trade Chandler for a chance at Pierce (Jabari) and Deron (Harrison)?

Pierce championships as one of three best players on his team: 1
Chandler championships as one of three best players on his team: 1

To me, it's basically a wash. I like favors size though, and he will have a better career than Noel
