What's new

proposed trade for Harrison Barnes.

Wasn't the majority of this board down on Carroll when he was here? What's changed? He's the same player.

I like him, but I swear he wasn't very loved when he was here.

Was wondering where all the Tony Snell love was coming from then looked at his recent numbers... Dude has been hot. Every time I have watched him he seems to make horrible offensive mistakes and then get yanked... I'll have to go watch him again.

He shot 29% from 3 here.. he shoot 39% now... very different.

I always liked him and for the price that he left at was puzzled why we didn't bring him back.

you've got to be ****ing kidding me.................

Danny Green is intriguing. He and Pops have had words so he might be looking to go elsewhere. Little to no upside other than a bounce back from a tough season. There are others I'd prefer (Matthews, DMC and probably Middleton). But he would probably be ok with coming off the bench, which leaves Burks as the starter. Competition for that spot could make both better. Hood and Ingles compete for the rest of the minutes behind Hayward. Millsap is a defensive specialist and injury insurance.

Hack lived up to his name on that one. Wrong on both points. We'd have a hard time finding a poster (other than Hack apparently) who DIDN'T love DMC. And he's light years ahead of the player he was, including the real reason we'd love to have him back: he's added the 3 to his D.

I do think we're reaching the point where--unless we're adding a top shelf talent at the top of the draft--we need to add more experienced pieces, not projects. Barnes fits that criteria. He's a good mixture of being young (so still, perhaps, has some unrealized potential that a coach like Snyder could develop), but also has playoff experience.

He brings perimeter defense, outside shooting (43% from 3), and a perimeter player who can play with his back to the basket--something we don't currently have. That could translate into time at the 4 with a lineup like:

Exum
Burks
Hayward
Barnes
Gobert

I think a Barnes trade is an interesting idea and not unrealistic (like signing Butler or Leonard).

I can see why GS does it, but they might prefer to do it at next year's trade deadline unless there's someone they particularly like with our pick on draft night.
Great post
Makes alot of sense

Carroll is starting on a team with FOUR all-stars-- one of which is either the best (or the 2nd best) three-point shooter in the NBA this season. Pls explain to me why Carroll can fit in more three-point makes than Barnes.
Minutes? (I have no idea who plays more minutes btw)

You are way off with this one bro.
Most of us loved him, wanted him back, and were pissed when he was not brought back.
Smd bro

You are also trading for a guy looking to get paid next year... how did that work out this year?

Again if the price is lower I can talk myself into it, but our current lotto pick is off the table for Barnes. There are other ways to add experience that would be better.

Not all of our young guys will work out... I wouldn't mind adding Devin Booker, Johnson, or Hezonja... Barnes is just so meh to me.

With the way we've been playing those 2 are out of the question though.
