If you don't have a riot or protest control people tend to get out of hand real fast. People attending those things should know they're in danger. If the dude got hit on the dome to prevent a riot, violence, vandalism, etc, he should have thought about the consequences before attending. Unless the cop purposely tried to hurt the guy, I don't think action should be taken against him, then again, I'm not exactly sure of what "really" happened either so I don't really know.
I don't know how he "really" got hit in the head with a flash grenade or tear gas round (which is what put him on the ground in the first place), but you can see the cop throw a flash grenade right next to him while he is laying on the ground.

I don't think we need to be using force to "control" these protests unless they actually do get out of hand. There have been zero reports of looting, violence, drugs, or any other crimes. The only violence and crime coming from these protests (the one in Oakland included) is from the police getting violent with the protesters and arresting them on bogus charges (such as unlawful assembly, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, etc).

Yeah, but I was working while I watched it. From what I remember, some guy got carried off by a bunch of screaming people. Did it show him actually get hit ( I can't watch the video now).
It shows the guy laying on the ground, bleeding from his head, a few feet in front of several cops who are just standing there behind the barrier. Several people run up and try to help him, and one of the cops (from a few feet away) throws a flash grenade right next to the guy laying on the ground.

It doesn't show how the guy got injured initially. What it does show is the guy lying injured on the ground, a group of people gather around to try and help the guy, and a cop lobs a flash grenade directly into the crowd. From my perspective, that's using potentially deadly force against someone lying injured on the ground. Those flash grenades are not meant to go off right next to someone's head.

This didn't upset anyone?

that cop should be fired and arrested. Fyi, the guy on the ground (from being hit with either a flash grenade or a teargas round) is a vet who served 2 terms in iraq. He's in critical condition right now.

HE AINT'S NO VET!!! HE PROBABLY DON'T EVEN OWN NO TOBY KEITH ALBUM!! HE'S A STUPID COMMIE SOCIALIST LIBERAL HIPPIE!!

I don'ts know why these guys are protesting anyways. USA! USA! USA!

Yeah, ok. Yesterday, I watched the video from the link that was posted. It was completely different than the video posted on jazzfanz. That was messed up and the cop should to be charged with something. What a douche.

This guy was later interviewed on CNN and said, "I should have just stayed in my parents basement and smoked my weed and none of this would have ever happened but I had to get out of the house. My parents kept saying it wasn't normal for a 31 year old to not have a job and live with their parents. At least now I can tell them that I met a lot of people at the protest who are just like me."

This is typical police behavior. Assuming the person who threw the tear-gass cannister at the people helping the downed man is ever identified, the most he'll face is a suspension, and probably not that.

Or so you say as you bed your third wife of the day.

Would Americans allow Iraqis, Afghans, and Libyans to invade our country and aid us against an oppressive government/violent police force?

Hilarious how things change when the shoe is on the other foot.....
