I don't try to sound smart; I appreciate the compliment. I do try not to take a position on something unless I think I'm right about it. I suppose that since you find that worth condemning, that means you prattle on about things knowing you are wrong. That certainly explains your responses so far. I glad you're amuse though. I don't feel qualified to tell gay people what message they should be getting across.

I think on some level it might be important for gay people to understand the people whose opinion they are trying to sway and tailor their message accordingly. If I am trying to get buy-in for a change I make at work, and I prepare a presentation about it, I go to some lengths to understand the stakeholders and what would sway their opinion in my favor and try to tailor my message to them. For the accounting group, I focus on the money aspects, for the HR group, I focus on associate involvement and impact, for the operations group I would focus on efficiency and productivity. So it is important that I understand my intended audience and tailor my message accordingly if I wish to accomplish anything. Similarly, not everyone who is opposed to homosexuality has the exact same opinion. Some are against it exclusively due to religion, some may believe it is against nature, others may believe it is damaging to children. Not everyone opposed to it has the exact same set of views.

So in a way it would make someone who is not gay qualified to specify what message should be expressed to address their concerns in particular.

If they are not trying to sway anyone's opinion then what is the point of the whole thing to begin with? I don't feel the need to set up a monogamous heterosexual rally in my town, as I do not feel any need to sway anyone's opinion regarding my monogamous heterosexuality.

Thank you for confirming your own contradiction. I've been aware for years that something which can't be proven wrong can also not be correct. some opinions fall into this category, some do not.

It's good to know you think of yourself as trying to be nice. The reason you think I try to tell people what they should be saying, or doing, is because I appeal to people's better natures, and they resent the difference I highlight between who they want to see themselves (and society) as being and who they are as a part of society.

I have no issues with your work examples. One difference is that at work, you are not talking about your basic human freedoms. Another difference is that, historically, the accounting department has not used "talk about numbers" in order to keep a conversation focused about small changes and what makes them comfortable, even if that means the labor division is seeing more injuries to workers because of it (and I'm sure if your employees safety was being endangered by penny-pinching, you'd feel much more strongly about including human elements in your talk with the accountants). Historically, the DutchJazzers of the world have used this sort of tone-policing to keep any sort of act they dislike out of the public eye, even hand-holding.

Back in post #2, I said that I didn't understand the importance of nudity (if there is nudity, as opposed to say the wearing of very skimpy clothes), and that tradition is not a sufficient reason to beak the law. However, who are we to tell them nothing more important than tradition is at stake?

so what if the parade passes your house(now maybe you live in subrubia) but in amsterdamm it passes a lot of peoples homes.
i dont go dancing halfnaked and doing hetero sexual things in peoples frontyard/street.
