Yeah but how many more FTs would MJ have had if they called a foul every time someone lightly brushed against him, like they do for harden? MJ did it in the era of hard fouls and body up defenses. In today's world of hands-off defense I wager MJ would be in the 15+ range of FT per game. Harden is a fantastically skilled player taking full advantage of the current rules. He would be great in any era but no where near as great in an era where players were actually allowed to touch him.TBF, MJs career high in FTA/game for a season (11.9) is higher than Harden’s (11.0) but I agree.
That is part of the problem but I cannot remember a series where there has been such a strategic imbalance. A lot of that is due to personel but quin is getting his *** kicked too.Rockets was nv going to be easy, but if you start the games missing multiple open shots and turning the ball over unnecessarily, not much the coach can do, we just need more offensive talent who can shoot 3s decently (not jae crowder type of guy who turns up once every five games)
Rockets can't miss because we are giving them easy open looks. Jazz can't hit because the rockets are making most of their shots really difficult. Strategic mismatch.Jazz can't hit. Rockets can't miss.
This comes down to who shows up, not what you're capable of. John and Karl just missed their shots too or am I missing something?
David Locke said a few days ago that over the past summer coach snyder was "focused" and "had developed" a plan to stop Houston. Lmao. Snyder is worshiped by the local media. The SLC sports media is so soft on its teams... Other cities are absolutely ruthless toward their teams if they suck.
Unless you change the offense, you can't address the weakness teams that can effectively switch create. When your offense relies heavily on on-ball screens, it isn't hard to anticipate or switch, and the passing lanes are predictable. The sets would be a bit more effective if we had a stretch 4 or PG that could consistently make 3s, but it isn't like Quin has had time to adjust for that. Look at the teams that have beat Houston. I wasn't happy when they hired Quin, a supposed offensive genius, that couldn't get anything going and somehow is touted for his defense now (Rudy), LOL. Unlike many here, I think they have the roster to effectively compete, but not with the sets they run.
What would a stretch 4 do? This is an ignorant use of over used buzz words. What really will a 4 who can shoot threes do? Ignorance seriously.Unless you change the offense, you can't address the weakness teams that can effectively switch create.
